Horses will ALWAYS want to be with their herd. Usually when a horse gets out, you get another horse to bring them back because they instinctively don't want to be alone.

I hope you get the opportunity to spend time with horses. They’re such beautiful, special creatures. Can be daunting in person because they’re so big, strong & powerful, but the majority are also smart, funny, friendly & curious. Just remember that they’re also a prey animal, so they are constantly on the lookout for sabre tooth tigers, lions, wolves & other predators trying to attack them, so they’re also big scaredy cats!

@@AstiJay Horses recognize people in photographs. A horse who is treated roughly, only once, (and not abused, just not very nicely), their stress will go up just seeing a photo of that person, the opposite when they see a photo of someone who was nice to them. The only other animals that can recognize photographs are dolphins, and possibly elephants (but the research is kinda trickier). Not even chimps, dogs, cats, etc can do that. It’s a level of symbolic representation that is quite advanced. So yeah, they’re actually smart.

@@wilfredhopsin4840 I absolutely guarantee that the racehorses do not die happy. They die in severe pain, confusion, terrible fear, and usually feeling alone and abandoned because their herd is gone and the riders, the only people they know usually out on the track, will tend to leave them alone with the medics. And, most racehorses are only two years old. Not even old enough to be done growing. To maybe five years old. Horses live to 30 plus years. So essentially what happens to racehorses can be compared to making a nine year old child get super into weightlifting for your benefit, and then the child drops a bar on their neck and dies. That isn’t happy. Neither are racehorses when they get hurt and die on the track. I completely agree with the statement that horses love to run, because they do. They run and play just like we do when they feel safe enough. But to say that about racehorses? Nah

Sometimes you have to remember that horses enjoy their company and being together. Its in their instincts to run together and roam close. But even humanly trained its nice too see

Though 2yr olds are big, they generally aren’t started being ridden yet until 3 or 4. (I know some people start there horses at 2 but a lot don’t) Not saying anyone said this, just saying some facts! 😊

When I was younger, my mother, a friend and I went riding. All our horses had pasture pals that decided to come along, so we had 7 horses but only 3 riders. We were on a logging road and when a truck went by, the drivers face was priceless.

The horses had to have absolutely loved the freedom of running on the beach! Most horses have to be kept at least in a pasture for much of their lives, and even if it is a large one, they can’t just run and run and run due to the constraints of the fences. This had to be so exhilarating for the horses! I’m so happy for them.
