Tips for next fish: just cut fish steaks and leave the skin on the steaks. Salt, pepper and som butter in the pan/foil. Skin will peel off when the fish is done. Good Luck!

The skin makes it easier to cook in a pan, because it won't fall apart on you when you turn it around. You should cook it skin side down first. Some fresh water trout from murky ponds don't taste good with the skin on, though, but sea trout should be good to go.

We in general aren't a wavey people. Mostly just race a hand up in the air as a acknowledgment of a person coming and going. But if someone gives a big enthusiastic wave we will probably wave back in slight confusion or to avoid feeling awkward xD And he gave you a fish as compensation for letting him brag. Look at these fine fish I got! You have acknowledged my fine fish, so you may have one. I'm joking! Mostly... But like, would be rather rude to show someone something delicious and being like, "You can't have any tho."

If you can get some tin foil then you can create a bag for the fish and add some lemon juice, butter, and some herbs like dill in there and cook the fish in the hot coals of the fire. Or you can even heat up some rocks in the fire, lay over some onions, and then cook the fish on the top, skin down, which will steam it. You can also poach the fish in water although don't cook it too long.

I think the river crossing at 13:20 might be the one where Ride the Bean crashed 3 years ago. Only then there were no sticks to indicate that the road suddenly drops. At 69°29'59.4"N 23°30'37.8"E

Thanks to KZbin for introducing me to you!! Martha, I've watched Itchy Boots for a long time, and I do see a rookie Noraly in you. Of course, it's different thing to be one your own, but I have SO much respect for you letting Mitch take over when you're not confident, but I also bet you'll try more and more, as you gain more time and experience riding the bike in new and unknown circumstances, as you already have. Huge 👍 for you. And for both of you 👍👍! 🥰 It's so nice to meet both of you, and I'm looking forward to watching what comes next and the previous videos. Sadly, I only rode with my boyfriend on his bike, a Yamaha 1100, from Denmark to Yugoslavia (and back) when I was 16 years old, a 3 week adventure through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Yugoslavia, and Osterrich. I swore then I would ride myself one day, and I did a few times, (small local trips on a friends Honda 400), but never got a motorcycle license or a motorcycle, as I began to fly gliders instead the next summer... I only regret I didn't do both!! From Denmark, I, Pia, send you lots of love and respect, and may your adventure be filled with amazing nature, people, rides, and positive memories. ❤❤

A Tip for caming in Norway, we discovered that mosquitos do not like the wind @all so if you find a spot with a decent breeze that wont blow you tent away, its probably a good spot to hide from them beasts. Also watch out for the very little flies, i believe they call them "Knots" they are a bit smaller than fruit flys but boy are they annoying. They love lakes and still water but also hate any kind of wind :) Hope that may help you hide a bit more from these beasts. Thanks for taking us along and have a safe Ride :)

@@baldis12 That's so few people, and they don't carve their way into the land the way offroad drivers would... Jumping the same hill over and over and over until it's basically just a mud-hole coated in 2 stroke juice. The number of tourists who would be off roading in norwegian nature every year would outnumber the sami who HAVE THE RIGHT TO THEIR LAND. You make it sound like they're savages just ruining land up there, when in reality they've been there for thousands of years living just fine with nature, while the rest of us are clueless enough to think that they're causing havoc with a few ATVs as they drive out to check on their animals every once in a while. The point is to LIMIT the exposure. There aren't that many sami, and the vast majority of them do not own reindeer. We're talking maybe a few hundred people.. vs thousands of potential tourists.. Most of whom would be off roading relatively close to a road, so pretty much all the havoc would be caused over and over in certain places. The tourism would grow, because people would LOVE to off road in our amazing country. Norwegians at large would start off roading far more cause we're a motoring nation. We would absolutely destroy the area SO FAST. We're talking a handful of people hardly doing any damage AND using the vehicles for work.. Vs a bunch of goobers carelessly mangling the tundra, which will then grow back slooooowly because it's the fricken tundra. Norwegian waters have been emptied by hobby fishermen already. Back in the 80s I could catch fish in an instant. Today, nah. Rivers are dead because the forests are dead, and the forests are dead because we cut them down and planted everything at the same time, causing a dense canopy and no growth on the forest floor. Nothing on the forest floor means no insects, no insects means no fish. Total ecological collapse. Sami didn't cause that. Just greedy norwegians. 1% of our forest is untouched. The rest is basically just a monocrop type of situation. And that's why we hardly have animals in the forests anymore.

Norway is all nature and amazing views, i do recommend as you said you'd love to travel and see ''untouched'' landscape...do a proper tour around Norway! East, West, North and some south and it will change your view on nature as a whole. Biking in Norway is probably the BEST country other then Switzerland to do on a bike!

Martha, you're spot on about the red markings. And yes, you do need a license. But it's a fairly easy course. Takes about a day and a half to complete.

Martha, never doubt yourself about your riding capabilities. It's disheartening at the time when you accept defeat and have to get your partner to do tricky parts, but just remember all the experience you've built prior to that moment and how far you've come. you dont have to descale the fish. Just cut files, or slice it up, and fry it with some butter. You then peal the skin before eating, or allso eat the crispy skin. If you boil it, then peal the skin. Eat with some potatoes, and sour cream. its amasingly good :)

Welkome to Norway. You have a loot of good turist spots ahead of you. All the way down to the south. Love the sky we have up in the north. Clear Blue, dottet clouds, litle to no haze, just as it used to be, before the spraying of the sky,s started some yares ago. It will be more and more haze the further south you get. and fast to, so absorb. But i hope you having a realy nice trip trou our nice country.

live near the road section you talk about with the read crosses and it is great fun during the winter months aswell. you can join someone who allready has their license for the snowmobile and drive a seperate snowmobile after the person with the license! recomend coming to Kautokeino and Alta in winter and either find a local to take you riding or some guided tour. the guided tours migth be short and boring sometimes so i would recomend a local to take you for a trip :D

Well done taking care of that trout with no experience nor tools! Next time, you might prepare for it, and even catch your own ;) About the mosquitoes, there is a repellant that works pretty well called Autan, or you could get Lidocaine to ease the pain and keep you from scratching them.

Well done! You rode quite a long stretch of Finland and definitely a longer distance that would be from the southmost place to the northmost place. Props for that. But, if we are accurate you guys didn't ride the FULL length of Finland. Practical places to start and end the journey using a motorcycle would be Hanko (the southmost town, and the southmost place in the mainland is one of its peninsula, Tullinniemi, but it's a nature reserve area and can be accessed only by foot) and Nuorgam (510 km north from Rovaniemi, 210 km from Ivalo airport and 30 km to Barents Sea) that has a border crossing to Norway. Nuorgam is roughly 160 km more north than Kivilompolo's border crossing. But, most Finns (including myself, for only been to 4 km northwest from Raattama that's 60 km from Kivilompolo) haven't been as north in Finland as you have so, once again: Well done!

Trout, or in this case sea trout is the cusin of salmon. so it has a very similar taste, at least wild ones. Exported salmon comes from farmed salmon, and probobly have more fat caused fully access to food and makes them a bit different, that makes a different taste from wild salmon and trout. the more fat, the more taste/falvor. like beef. like the breed Dexter, who got a marble kind of meet, very taysty. The reindeer up north is not wild, but tame, domesticated for thousands of years, and belongs to our indigenous population the Sámi, who are distant related to all Native Americans, and tho they pass as white, they are neither Germanic nor Norwegian. Their ancient ancestors the Proto Finns migrated from Siberia Asia to Northern Norway during the Last Ice Age, and back then no modern Norwegian country, culture, people, language or society existed yet which is why they are indigenous.

i would never drive that fast on roads that bad. It is a miracle you managed it. one little stone or hole in the wrong place, and you would fly over the bike and get it ontop of your back. You should be glad to be alive. Otherwise, the video was wonderful.
