thank you profusely for verbally / audibly calling out each individual note. as someone who is totally blind since birth, and cannot see what your hands are doing on the fretboard, that was profoundly helpful! please continue doing videos in that particular style. it really helps!

Cheers. I've lots of lessons on here and I always call out the notes (some people question why I do that but I think it's really important). Hope they are useful to you. Kind regards. Jason

i was about to go hard into analysing this solo in terms of diminished scales but your explanation of "you just play the semitone below the chord tone" is actually much simpler

Another great lesson. Always been a favourite song of mine since I heard my dad playing it when I was really young. Great to be able to finally play along with it thanks guitar buddy!

I loved this song when I was young as it was the song played at the start of an 80's TV show called Crime Story about the 1960's. I learned this with the capo on the 1st fret. Verse Am, G, F, E and chorus A to Fm and ends D (wonder), E (stay) , A (runaway),D (run, run) , A (runaway). One of the first songs I learned since I liked the song and wanted to learn it.

who cares its a cover the point is the cords are the same cords and even if had not been the same keys if that was the case and it was the same keys the band im in and we get paid to play , its calld Nashville Number System than who cares for the solo part the same its call,d pentatonic scale you can hit any note i a pentatonic scale and it will match this the prob with tap reading you do know taps are base off what there person hear it not the ones that record the song not gonna seat there and wright guitar tab for there song,s

Nice but according to the original sheet music for this song, its key was Db. Even though you never see a Db in the song. It is a common misconception to identify the key by the first chord played. Why getting the key established correctly is important is that most singers have preferred keys to sing in following their natural voice. Singers who find the key of A or Bb or B easy to sing will not find this song to be that way.......D and Db are an anathema to A voice singers.
@thejaseguitar4 жыл бұрын
Don't always trust the sheet music. I explain at the start that the original is in Bb but I'm playing a semitone lower in A because of the open chord voicings (it was probably recorded in A and the tape sped up a little to give it more energy - a common trick). I find sheet music is often wildly inaccurate and it's far better to trust your ears. I understand that the first chord is not always the key but in this case it's obviously going from A minor to A major. The chorus has a classic combination of I, VI, IV & V chords.
@greatgambino4 жыл бұрын
@@thejaseguitar All true but this song I think is unique in that it doesn't follow the usual prescriptions. I followed your guitar play suggestions and worked out the song quite well. When I went to sing it, I sounded terrible in my voice. Normally I sing songs in Am, A and G Ok. The Key of D is terrible and I can't sing that at all well. That is what happened when I tried singing that song. So I researched the song and found the original score for the song which started with the chord Bbm. That song has 5 flats in the music score which makes it a Db. When you drop the capo you go to the Key of C. Check out the original score that has the chords also in it and you will see what I am talking about. This is not usual as the D chord does not play a major part in this song. It is not always straight forward in determining what key a song is and is a common misconception that the first chord is always the key of the song.
@thejaseguitar4 жыл бұрын
@@greatgambino The verse is in Bb Minor, which is the relative minor of Db Major (both 5 flats). The Chorus then goes to a Bb Major. I've simply transposed the original recording down a semitone.
@greatgambino4 жыл бұрын
@@thejaseguitar Original sheet music that has the chord tabs matching the Bbminor beginning has 5 flats which indicates the key of Db. And there is no Db in the song! drop down without the capo and the key becomes C. It is one of the unusual cases where typical methods of identifying a songs key does not work. See Fretboardanatomy.com
@thejaseguitar4 жыл бұрын
@@greatgambino You'll notice the sheet music changes to 2 flats in the chorus, indicating a change from Bb minor (5 flats - the relative minor of Db major) to Bb Major (2 flats). I think you're not grasping the concept of a minor key.
