Bloody brilliant. Beautifully explained in Bog Standard words. I’ve been trying to play this for years. Now I can start to learn it. I wish I could buy you a pint, Sir.

Just before our love got lost you said I am as constant as a northern star And I said, "Constantly in the darkness Where's that at? If you want me I'll be in the bar" On the back of a cartoon coaster In the blue TV screen light I drew a map of Canada Oh, Canada With your face sketched on it twice Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And I would still be on my feet Oh, I would still be on my feet Oh, I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid I remember that time you told me You said, "Love is touching souls" Surely you touched mine 'Cause part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling And still I'd be on my feet I would still be on my feet I met a woman She had a mouth like yours She knew your life She knew your devils and your deeds And she said, "Go to him, stay with him if you can But be prepared to bleed" Oh, but you are in my blood You're my holy wine You're so bitter Bitter and so sweet Oh, I could drink a case of you darling Still I'd be on my feet I would still be on my feet

Thanks for this! You should show a bit with your right hand. I'm just starting and having problems figuring out how to play the skinny strings individually with power. :)

This is great, and really fits with the first part of the song, but then as Im trying to play with the original song, there are some parts that does not fit. Im trying to modify it so that it can fit to the original song, especially the chorus it sounds like you dont need to play 2 tabs of C for the "Oh, I could drink a case of you". For me it was sufficient with only 1. I dont know, it would be great if it was played the whole way through with the lyrics!

I agree. The chords are really well explained, but I was hoping for help with the moments of unusual rhythm. I’m still pretty confused
@eaterofants95886 жыл бұрын
this is lovely! Do you have any tabs on this? I sometimes find it hard to follow and remember properly ^^' For me peronally the end of the intro was almost impossible to follow. I ended up more or less listening for it instead of following anything you were showing or saying

Great lesson! Helped a lot with the intro. Something about the chorus sounds a bit off to me though. That F you go down to sounds pretty low compared to the pitch of her voice at the “you’re in my blood” part. Anyone who has suggestions for matching the chorus up better would appreciate it!!

Thanks. Great song. I was thinking about Blackbird when I first started watching. Sounds authentic. I thought she played this in an open tuning, which she does a lot. Even if she does, this sounds spot on.

Joni is playing dulcimer on the track. The acoustic guitar part is played by James Taylor.

Hi Jason thanks for the video is there any chance that you could do some ultravox tunes or lessons on here? Like acoustic versions of Vienna or dance with tears in my eyes. Or maybe new European as I can't find the cords around playing it or something from the John foxx era thanks.

I appreciate this video, but it would be more helpful if you were slower, and showed more specifically what you were playing. Also, if you could play the second part like you did the first part so we could have played with you, that would be helpful. Thanks!

she did also do a few versions on the guitar. @Colin Sharp which of all the versions in the world by Mitchel or of the many who covered it, are we allowed to play, according to you. I know this might be a bit more harsh than the situation dictates. My point is not just to you, Colin, definitely dont mean attacking you personally. its more to the idea that many have that playing a song that we know should be played exactly like it was done by the the original performer. The lamest remark i ever got hurled at me as i was playing on stage is "Thats not how it sounds on the record." A lot of times one song is already done in a variety of versions. Which version is allowed? It makes no sense, right? Im not a beginner. i performed to medium size crowds, for decades. I have a pretty good understanding of music. If i play something that "does not sound like on the record" the reason will be: "If you wanna hear the song just exactly like the recording then play the f-ing record." For every song goes: There is not one single way to play it that is absolutely and exclusively correct. Music provides the freedom to rearrange and alter in tempo, even in melody (as long as its still recognizable), in chords, etc. This is not the playback show or "Timbuktu got talent", or any of those shitty ".... got talent" shows, that are fake as hell, set up to get viewers in the first place rather than helping novice musicians to become successful. If you play music composed by others then give it at least a little twist that makes that version your own. (And yes, you are allowed to do that without the music police arresting you) When someone yells comments like one did at me, as I mentioned, depending on the situation i would reply, or just ignore it. Sometimes a hurling a lame remark of my own right back at them suffices, like " I'm right, you're wrong! Coz Im the one with the microphone!" or: "So why am I up here and not you?", or: the "listen to the freaking record then, instead of coming here"-remark THere is no "one right way" to do anything. and that goes for music more than a lot of other things. Rearranged melody, rhythm, beat, vocals, etc It all can provide a great twist in the way the song is played.
