Yes it's all very confusing. I didn't understand the process until I took Lena Headey's acting workshop. She rhetorically asked the class: "How do I act so well?" and answered her own question by saying "what I do is pretend I'm the person I'm portraying in the show or play." While we were all confused, she explained that when George RR Martin came to her in England and asked to to play Queen Cersei of House Lannister, she responded "you are aware that I am not really a Queen of a fictitious Noble House?" That cleared things up. If Lena were to draw a graph of her process, of her method, it would be something like this: Lena, Lena, Lena, action, Queen Regent "Power is power", cut. Lena, Lena, Lena.
