Holland America is known for their high quality food. The menus are different for each cruise with some local flavors of where you are traveling. Alaska cruises offered many salmon and fish dishes. Greek Islands had Greek inspired dishes. I always find that I can order a dimply prepared salmon or steak dish every night . They used to list it on the bottom of the menu. But you can ask for it. Also feel free to ask for multiple dishes like 2 appetizers. If you need a special diet like low sodium you call the cruise line ahead of time to request it. Then check with the dining room manager your first night. They give you a menu to fill out the night before each dinner if ordering a special diet. Also you can usually modify dishes you order from the regular menu like substitute or delete something

How formal is formal night?

During our recent HAL ' 'Dressy Night' events, we have noticed a few guests dressed in formal wear such as evening gowns, cocktail dresses, tuxedos, and suits. However, many guests (including ourselves) gravitate towards the more casual side of the permitted "Dressy Night" dress code. Men often go for a polished look with button-down shirts and trousers, occasionally adding a tie to the mix. All of the * items, including those with and without a price, include a Public Health Advisory: "Consuming raw or undercooked meats, seafood, shellfish, eggs, milk, or poultry may increase the risk for foodborne illness, especially if the consumer has certain medical conditions." Our apologies for cutting that off in the video!
