We sailed on the Sunshine out of Port Canaveral last December and are excited that we get to take it out of a much closer port in Charleston SC. The only negative we had was that you had to walk thru the casino area to check in for dinner and to get to other things and it was so smoky. The best part is staying in a spa balcony room and having 3 levels of the beautiful Serenity deck. Mikey the Cruise Director was a hoot too!

Congrats! The far majority of the tips will still hold true for the Sunshine. The only tip that is likely no longer valid is the fourth one about the Secret Buffet because of changes due to COVID. Hope you enjoy your cruise!

Wow, what a ton of great information. We're in two staterooms on Deck 6 near the front so I'm looking forward to utilizing that front deck area. I was planning on taking a deck of cards, but thanks for pointing out that taking a game or two might come in handy. Glad you enjoyed the video! We only did breakfast room service, so no real tips from our cruise. However, the room service fees, etc. have changed recently, so be sure to check Carnival's website about the changes.

Hi jelly beans, is the Habana food offered in all the cruises that have Habana bar just wondering, i'm going on the Horizon and wonder if they will have it too.. thanks

Carnival mentions *some* food items for the Havana Bar on the Vista, which has the new Havana Bar experience like the Horizon, but we couldn't find any specifics. Fingers crossed that they have some!

That's a legitimate concern. You might consider switching to assigned time dining. Even if assigned time dining is not an available option before you board, you can talk to the maître d' once you're on the ship to make the switch. We recommend talking to them after boarding on embarkation day. If you go to Guest Services or one of the restaurants immediately after boarding, they'll tell you when and where the maître d' will be available. We've made the switch this way several times, including our last sailing.

We just sailed on the Sunrise (previously Triumph and sister ship of the Sunshine) and a lot of them were still true.

The restaurants mentioned are listed as additional, is that only for certain meals? We've never been on a cruise and it's a little overwhelming!

Correct, they are only an additional charge for certain meals. JiJi Asian Kitchen is complimentary for breakfast and lunch, but is an additional charge for dinner. Cucina del Capitano is complimentary for lunch, but is an additional charge for dinner. Also mentioned in the video, Guy's Burger Joint is complimentary for all meals. Hope this helps!

Most of the tips should still be accurate based on our recent Carnival cruises. The only tip that is likely no longer accurate is the "Secret Buffet." We haven't seen any of those kinds of food offerings since COVID.
