I got an interesting question on my most recent Instagram "Friday Q&A." (You can follow me on all the socials and keep your eye out for the Q&As which happen every Friday where I answer all your questions).
So I got a question from Sean and he asks "Realistically, at a minimum how often/how long per stretch per week to gain flexibility for BJJ"?
So this is a question I've gotten before and I have to start off by saying it's not quite that easy...stretching can be helpful to improve flexibility, but it's not "complete." Gaining more flexibility, can help with muscle tension and even joint mobility, however, more flexibility isn't always enough.
If you get more motion, you have to also be able to control that range of motion through end-range strengthening and general weight-lifting.
