the suiciding discussion... It's part of the game. If I have no chance of winning because you attacked me aggressively, I can choose to punish you on my way out. The fact that this is a possibility should give caution to overly aggressive players. The threat of suiciding, I believe, brings a certain balance.

What it also does is stall the game out for over 1hr. Also, the reward for passive players just encourages a certain play style and discourages an aggressive style.

I used to play another game similar to risk where suicides were also a problem. There was a very popular player who played super aggressively. In that game at least, his play style required a lot of quick, accurate player analysis and was just hard to pull off, but he did it consistently. I think there just needs to be someone in this game that tries to take that hyper aggressive play style to the next level. Then, show everyone else it’s possible.

Totally agree with your point on suiciding. Sometimes there's a chance to come back, but when I know a game is over, you bet I'm slamming into whoever I think ended it for me. Maybe they'll think twice about doing it next time.

That is where strategy come to play. The best players like pete and other grand master play in a way to force another player to do big damage while they just grab little thing. Like forcing a break by taking the exterior position or increasing a border. Forcing other player into war so they suicide and resent each other is the best strat.

PETE!!! I just had the coolest Risk experience! I loaded into a progressive caps game and Speedster was the host! I was like wtf he’s that GM that plays with Pete sometimes! He came across my cap earlyand we became good neighbors. Sadly I got eliminated first when I was about to set with 5 cards. I found his stream and watched the rest of the game which went on for another 2 hours. Turns out I was in a lobby with 3 GMs and a master. Lorin (#1 GM) was in speedsters chat and was giving a me lot of advice for progressive caps. They were both surprised I was only an intermediate because I played so well and I had to give you the credit. (I’ve only been playing for a couple of months) I also sent Speedster a friend request after I got eliminated and he accepted so I’m now Risk friends with the #7 FFA player in the world! Great game and community.

I was playing a fixed game the other day where I had the NA play, a player started constantly breaking me so I over extended to get the kill, they let me build back up to troop lead just for it to happen again with another player so I did the same thing. They let me build back up again to troop lead and yet another player decided to pull the same play. This time I was clearly the fish but had a lucky set on 3 and chose to card skip. No point killing someone for no cards and I still held NA, gained SA in my last kill and held 15 territories in the 3 player game. One of the players finally got the idea to break me before I became troop lead again but was able to catch up enough to only be 20 troops down from second, who was the player who broke me. This is absolutely the time where suicide and hope for second was the answer, I should've been the second one out and was lucky to make it as far as I did. Ended the game with 3rd place, 3 bounties, and no regrets. Stayed to spectate and the only player to never break me got the win 2 turns later.

It seems that guys like green who tell you to hit another player without wanting to do it themselves are quite common. I'm always glad when they don't get to win as a result.

Liked that 3 player endgame with AUS removed from the map. Cause nobody was able to run there, catch a break and turtle. Also well deserved win for Pete. He did the dirty work himself. Green didnt deserve #1 at all after pretending to attack Pink but then going pussy mode instead and only taking out a 1 for a card.

I’m a new player, third day playing but over 10k points so far. I’ve been getting NA pretty easily a lot of the time and build up to be the power house and have an over 20 troop lead early on, but then someone who knows they’re going to die, slams me almost every time. Going slower and not being a big threat and waiting

Yes. Taking bonuses carefully so you can withstand being slammed is very important.

I suicided into a player just yesterday. Completely took him down in his turtle in SA. Ended up WINNING the game from 9 troops and 6 territories. Other players were sitting on 60 at the time and turtling. It was a CRAZY game.

I just played a game yesterday where someone was about to suicide into me so instead I did it first but still has enough troops to be a threat to the other players. This somehow inspired the other players to attack each other and I won by default

I have to disagree with fixing the bots for people that don't ready up. Instead of a band-aid solution, they should fix lobby's in general. Have the ready check before the match starts and everybody that doesn't ready up just gets kicked. That way you actually play the settings that you ready up for.

These games are so frustrating. I had a game where I was SA and Africa. and then I kill US with keeping even tropes with EU and a Mid sized Australia player. I tried to let him have africa but he wouldn't take it. He rather fight me for 2nd or 3rd in America, and let the smaller Australia player with a weaker bonus win....we could have easily split the board like i signaled and duked it out after black died

i think opening neutral bots is ok, it adds another dimension to the game. part of that is luck (ie did YOU get all the neutral bot territories in YOUR continent?) part of that is strategy (ie where do i go or perhaps WHEN do i take out the bot to take the continent - like what your doing in NA)

You have to make an educated guess on when you can go into the 1v1 at some kind of advantage.

Yeah, suiciding is a part of the game, anything you can so that the devs dont stop is a part of the game. And risk is really a social game

in your endgame, you get better ods if you only hit singles.

The opponent also gets better odds if they hit singles. It's a good idea to wreck their stack so they can't do that.

I called yellow going to Aus as soon as he put troops in Africa. It’s a move out of sa and i move out of aus and then he has a external. I’m guessing before the video gets there it doesn’t work.

While I agree bots are bad, they are needed when people loose connection or leave a game. If a person leaves a game and their territory simply becomes neutral it would unbalance the game.
