@@007KayElleKayThe Lord Mayor's Show is funded by the City of London Corporation, so apart from very limited input by a few Army musicians and a handful of Regulars and some Yeoman Warders it doesn't actually cost the tax payer anything. @@Brigadier9 I don't think this is the right place to discuss dragoons, but that's very badly misinformed as that's exactly what they were and exactly what they did during the 17th and 18th centuries, and they weren't used solely or primarily as cavalry until the 19th. A well documented early example is Cromwell using Col John Okey's Dragoons to do exactly that at Naseby against Rupert's cavalry from the Sulby Hedges.

These can be seen on the crimson jackets (crimson? scarlet? idk for sure)
@peterbrown10123 күн бұрын
@robshirewood5060 the Lifeguards wear red jackets, the Blues and Royals wear blue jackets from the pre amalgamation Royal Horse Guards (The Blues) The Household cavalry do not have sergeants, this is because sergeant was an infantry rank and Corporal was a Cavalry rank, when the infantry introduced corporals the Cavalry added of Horse to denote their superiority, only The Household Cavalry keep this tradition. Ranks are trooper, L/cpl - 2 cheverons with crown above, L/cpl of Horse - 3 chevorons with cloth crown above, Corporal of Horse- 3 cheverons with brass crown above, Staff Corporal- 4 inverted cheverons with crown above worn on lower sleeve or wrist, Squadron Corporal Major- crown worn on lower sleeve or wrist, Regimental Corporal Major- coat of arms on a officer's style uniform. They do not wear cheverons on ceremonial uniform, ranks are denoted by a series of augiletts, NCO'S from the left shoulder and officer's from the right. All ranks address Lt. Colonel and above by their rank.not sir. The Blues and Royals are the only regiment who salute without headgear and their 2nd Lieutenants are called cornets. The Lifeguards better badge is brass, The Blues and Royals is gunmetal. There are only 2 messes, the officer's mess and the NCO'S and WO'S mess. The Household cavalry regiment is unique in that it is made up of 2 regiments, so 2 regiments within another regiment. They are also classed as a corps in their own right.

The Lord Mayor’s Show 2024 👍 HISTORY: The Lord Mayor’s Show is the oldest, longest, best loved and least-rehearsed civic procession in the world. It dates back to the early 13th century when King John, desperate for support, granted that the City of London could appoint its own Mayor. He required that each newly-elected Mayor should come upriver to distant Westminster and swear loyalty to the Crown, and the Mayors have been making that journey for over 800 years. Around them grew up a noisy, colourful, joyous procession that over the centuries became known as the Lord Mayor’s Show.
