BRILLIANT thanks for letting me have some freedom. I loved being out of the boring duty especially in the box guarding an empty palace when Charlie is not even in residence. I enjoyed having a run around ypee ypee!!!!!!

They do not guard the Palace, nor Clarence House where the King actually lives but Horseguards in Whitehall. The HQ of the British Army ( London Division) and Regimental HQ of the Household Cavalry. Keep up .

Hee hee, Catch me if you can! The horse is having fun. Lol.. We’re in Southern California and we’ll be visiting our niece and our great niece and nephew soon. She’s from California too but moved to the U.K. with her new husband a few years ago, they live in Chippenham. It’s so sweet that she wants us to stay at their home so we don’t have to stay and pay for a hotel, we can afford it but I’m sure after airline tickets, paying to go out, souvenirs, probably buy tickets for exhibits can add up, so we’ll save a lot staying at her guest room. I wish we could go during Christmas, I bet London and all the small towns would look so pretty. We love the cities where we visit, but we love to see more of the countryside. 🩷😁

U can really see how well trained the horses are as well as the riders. Usually when one horse farts off and is a silly another one goes with them and if seen pack mentality when they spook and run blind I had the fun of catching 11 race horses who were going off. They got through our fence and our horses reached for the popcorn as they sat back and laughed. U would almost have one and the others would do fly bys as if too say... nah nah u will never catch me. Then off they would go. I ended up with ours watching them go off was quiet a spectical but after a while they got tired and happily followed me. But in all seriousness I'm always impressed with these guys how well trained and cool calm and collected they are when their is an issue.

The Kings Troop RHA are based at Woolwich Barracks

These are the gunners with their happy horses who did not do box duty that day. The horses are so well behaved oh happy happy horse charging around. The Gunners are magnificent and what about the horse running joyously free. The troops are all very impressive but they have forgotten to show us happy runner. Is he still running?

The guards who do duty for the Monarchies of Norway, Sweden and Denmark, are as ancient as the British Guards and one of these countries had guards protecting their Royalty from the 1500. They are also part of their country’s army and all of these guards are treated with respect. But our Kings guards (and I am Australian) and their horses are not given the respect that is their due. I think it might be that the Monarchy in England is very impressive.

Its all great fun till one day some one is killed ? I am all for tradition and every army regiment had horses But in 2024 we only have a couple of units left who have them Is it not time the horses were retired It looks lovey for the tourist but I think its time to end this sort of thing and move on we live in a very dangerous world and our troops should be training for a war which is closer to day than it ever was

I agree. I was watching this video and cringing at the horrendous lack of horsemanship and riding skills. Flopping around in the saddle, yanking on their horse’s mouths, gripping with their knees… it’s honestly just crazy. Do they not teach these guards how to properly ride a horse?! A lot of these horses look poorly trained as well, which just compounds the issue.
