With respect to Brendel, Kyle is “real happy with Jake”. He’s said it repeatedly. And they’ve had a chance to move on from Brendel the last two years and haven’t done so, which indicates that they watch the tape of Brendel repeatedly getting pushed 3 yards into the backfield and are indeed real happy with Jake. They think he’s an absolute beast.

That may not be necessarily true….Kyle isn’t gonna go in front of the local media, and content creators then tell them that Brendel is the shits, Banks is marginal and McKivitz is a back up at best….any ‘harmony’ there is the locker room, would vaporize before Kyle could walk away from the microphone

But as I stated in my comment they’ve had 2 fucking years to move off of Brendel and haven’t done so, which absolutely IS a vote of confidence for the player. They’ve shown by their ACTIONS they’re “real happy with Jake.” And that’s troubling. That suggests to me a strong level of denial and a certain unwillingness to get real about the situation.

And outside of the Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit LIons, the two the best offensive lines in the league, no team is running it 3 straight times with 2nd and goal from the 4. That tells you everything about the state of the game and how much better most of these defensive lines are compared to the offensive lines these days.

Shanahan needs to be fired after the season! No excuses, please! Purdy is not a problem and I'm still a big fan of him, but he needs another year to solidify a huge contract offer. I think he should get a $35 million/one year deal. If if demonstrates elite talent next year, then they should restructure him a $50 million deal. If he regresses, then we should let him walk in free agency and draft an elite rookie QB. We really can't afford to risk the house on one player when we have so many areas to rebuild. Shanahan is the biggest problem on this team! He refuses to make necessary changes because of his pride on not taking responsibility and being wrong. Moody would have been long gone on any other team, but he's still screwing us over every week because Shanahan can't admit he screwed up on that draft pick. He misses one or two makable field goals almost every week and that is crucial when you're in close games. We might have won 3 or 4 more of those close games if he was dependable. We had Carlson and he was 4/4, wasn't that enough to keep playing him and see what he could do for us? But no, Shanahan cares more about being right than winning! Please fire him Jed York, because next season won't be much different if he's still the coach.

I've been saying all year, get rid of Shanahan. He has lost every meaningful game in his coaching career. Get some speed on offense, beef up the OL, get a big bruising RB to wear out defenses. Get rid of the babyface QB with little hands who can't complete a pass over 20 yards and can't play in adverse weather conditions. The 9ers draft really badly. Instead of Brady, they brought n Carmazzi. Instead of Jamarr Chase, they drafted Lance.

@@ADseesU It's sad that KS is regarded as an offensive genius, which he may be, but he doesn't understand situations and personnel. For the last 15 years or so, the 9ers have had great defenses but the offense just couldn't get them over the hump thanks to poor choices they have made at the QB position. Alex Smith was the last good QB they had. Darnold has flourished in MN. It might be time to pay him and bring him back. You're right about not bringing in Brady and Gronk. In 1994, they brought in Deon Sanders and won a SB that same year. Get rid of KS and bring in Vrabel or Gruden. I'm getting a little tired of seeing some of these head coaches in Capri pants.

@@ADseesU also, this is the same team that drafted muscleman/gym rat Jim Druckemiller instead of Jake Plummer. Jake Plummer was the prototypical west coast offense QB. He would have done very well in the system, taking over after Steve Young was forced to retire. Unfortunately for Young, Carmen Policy and Dwight Clark ran that team into the ground after Montana left. They didn't give him any help. He didn't have a good OL, so he was always running for his life and really had to carry the team on his shoulders.
