Such conspiracy occurs in other fields also. Years ago i was working in a plastic industry in Quality department. For one of the plastic cups the results of the drop test were much above average of the standard. ( done from a table height to see if cup cracks or not). We happily sent a report to the senior management thinking it was an achievement. But things backfired on our department. Top management gave us a strong rebuke on these above standard results saying that if the cup does not break within a specific time interval than it will affect business. So we were forced to reduce Quality which certainly is not ethical.

आप की ये बात सुन कर मुझे याद आया ki मेरे घर की tubelight की पट्टी का चौक बिगड़ गया तो एलेक्ट्रिसियन को बताया तो बोला नई LED tubelight ले जायो, नयी चौक मिलनी बंद हो गयी है। बताने का मकसद ये था की चौके वाली tubelight 10-20 saal आराम से चल जाती थी और आज की LED 1-2 साल मुश्किल से चलती है। अब चौक वाली tubelight बेचना बंद कर दिया है, और पुरानी के parts bhi nahi milte. Pollution, global warming ke liye yeh sab baatey jawabdar hai.

Previously all Japanese brands like AIWA etc used to offer long lasting Tvs and Cassette players. People bought them once and used them for many years. Middle Class in India was not growing much, hence the number of buyers with purchasing power were very limited and hence the sales declined after sometime.
