I made thousands of dollars selling the boxset Original Fast. They were on sale on Amazon for $17 for weeks and I bought dozens. I sold a couple for $250. It really helped me raise funds to get releases I needed for my collection.

I'm of the mind there should always be a Fast & Furious line. Not because I'm a fan of the movies, but they make good entry points for new collectors. It doesn't matter to newbies that Mattel made the same car in a prior set.

NFS would be straight up fire 🔥. They could replicate scenes from game intros and tracks in the card art. An NFS Porsche Unleashed series with a blacked out 550 chase would be a hot item. The chase car could have the driver in the intro. I’d buy every one.

They shouldn't retire the line, they should put some effort in. Roman's Eclipse, Slapjack's Supra, Morimoto's 350z, Sean's S15, the Safe Heist Chargers, the police Chargers, I could go on - all cars we have NEVER seen in FnF Premium, despite HW having the castings.

@@doomusrlc The black F355 was in a much more iconic scene but I honestly do like blue Ferraris so I wouldn't be against also having the F355 from 2F2F. There was also a red 360 Spider in 2F2F. Hot Wheels has done the Ferrari 360 Modena in regular scale, and it's one of the better late 1990s Ferrari Hot Wheels castings, but they've never done a 360 Spider in regular scale (although they had a very custom version of the 360 Spider as a ~1/50 scale Hot Wheels Dropstars and I have four different colours of that one including a ZAMAC, and Mattel did do a mainline 360 Spider but as a Matchbox; I think it might have even been the final Ferrari that Mattel sold as a Matchbox before they stopped putting out any Ferraris in the Matchbox line around 2005 or 2006).

The answer depends on whether you're a veteran collector or a new one. I collect HW for about 3 years (although collect 1/43 scale for about 35 years) and the repeats gave me the chance to get models which otherwise wouldn't be available.

I really enjoy the premium Fast and Furious cars, Sure they may have to do some repeats but some collectors are just starting out and are trying to get some of these older castings but can't afford the first few original sets. Mattel we need a premium 69 Ford Torino Talladega from Fast 7. The silver line got one, now the premium line needs one! Thanks John for another great video!

A simple wheel swap will fix the stance on the Impala. Just needs same size wheels (the small ones) front and back. It's obviously not in scale. But I still love it. It reminds me of the '65 that Chip Foose built. He shortened the body a few inches and dropped it on a C6 Corvette chassis. Badass car

I don’t think they should retire the line but rather work on finding new vehicles from the franchise to freshen things up and allow for more variety in the line. (Background cars and maybe different liveries based on models)

Keeping prices reasonable comes at a cost, and part of that cost is casting repeats. Mattel/Hot Wheels is not alone in this.

I always wondered what happens with all the unsold cars. Maybe things a way for them to get rid of old stock that didn’t sell. There must be some kind of return deal with the suppliers right? Or do they just throw away or melt unsold cars?

I just started collecting this year, I started with castings I had growing up. Now all the new sets are so sick, from the mystery machine in pop culture to the re-release skyline/hellcat. Repeats are definitely my favorite right now

Last year I wanted that impala, so I got a can of Montana lilac metallic and the bubbas bearings chevelle and the wheels from mother's lil helper nova wagon. It was a nice journey none the less. And it tucked the meats hard

On this single card premium, there are still no Bryan Supra Orange & White, Tokyo drift 350Z Tokyo drift Evo 2Fast supra 2Fast Evo Yenko Camaro (5 pack exclusive) Hemi Challenger All these shown up in those silver series. The one that never showed up was 2 fast Eclipse

The R-32 is good for customs. It has front and rear detail with black paint, so you can hit it with color shifting paint.

I think they should keep making them. Casuals like me just want some nice cars but resellers keep taking them. Having multiple will make them Peg warmers and we can actually get some instead of having to pay 10- 20 dollars each. Or some wont sell them unless you buy the whole set. There’s a few cars from the movies i would like but they probably have a hard time getting the license for them. Maybe now that Ferrari is back, maybe the Ferrari from the first movie. Or the Supra from the Second movie. The Honda Civics need a Casting.

I say keep em coming. For the cardboard collectors it’s good as they get different card art for the repeats. For the way I collect, like you in the cases it’s kind of also saving me money bc I don’t have to go chase after the hyped ones bc one way or another I got it randomly sitting on the pegs. It’s great for new collectors to get their start with a hyped model. It’s win overall. More pros than cons.

Since the Fast and Furious movie cars initiated my small but selective collection, I say keep it going. With that said, they need to make more new castings that aren't repeats. They still haven't released the white civic or red integra from the first movie 4 way race, Hectors gold civic, Roman's Eclipse spyder from 2F2F, Han's RX7 from Tokyo drift, Brian's blue R35, and many more. As a F&F collector, I've had to get creative with making customs with the help of waterslide decals and custom paint jobs. I really would like to see these other castings made in the Premium Line , if not, at least the Silver Series.

Lamley, I stay in a city with an insane number of collectors/resellers/hoarders that snatch up any of the hyped releases - I have never seen any of these F&F Premium cars in store yet they're always available on the secondary market. Mattel will KEEP churning them out.

I don’t mind the skyline and rx7 repeats cause they’re hard to get, cause scalpers lift them instantly, but the charger has been done to death and that impala was a peg warmer, maybe a couple will sell cause the premiums. But I wish they would do the early films cars as premiums. That rx7 should be the red one from the first movie.

Nah this is just a repeat wave is all, the Impala is on a technicality. Its gonna keep going regardless, but they should dig a little deeper and find some different liveries to use. Like that RX7, although its a repeat, is the guy who got beat by Lettie in F&F1. Plenty of interesting options from the background and side characters, for both cars and deco.

There’s plenty of cars they can still do. I don’t understand why we get mixes with mostly repeats. And they even have castings already ready to go. For example, the Ford Fairlane from Fast X can easily be done since they have the casting. Why haven’t we seen the Ford GT, Pantera, ‘67 Mustang, etc. etc.?

There are cars they have not brought to premiums like the green evo, the blue and orange camaro, the Mitsubishi eclipse with open top purple colour, or the ferrari that once raced the orange supra(since ferrari is coming back), we have the dark orange/gold supra from the race(2F2F), the DK 370z, evo8/9 red from tokyo drift, the original veilside rx7. These are few casting i feel could have been release as part of the fast and furious series. Smth fresh and new and not the same casting which is in my opinion very dull at some point of time.

They need to make a variation on the repeat car. Change the paint type between gloss, metallic and matte. Change the wheel type. They used to change Dom's black '70 Charger between releases, but then started making that car exactly the same. Give me a reason to buy the repeat.

They left models out. The rocket fiero, Shawn's mustang, and to liquid gold trucks from part II. I am sure hotwheels meant the 2024 firebird treasure hunt for this set. It was the car used in the jail break scene. Along with the NSX. I also believe the green torino was used in another set causing issues.

F&F has given us too many fantastic models and castings, i just cant justify killing it off. Yes, sometimes the repeats can be frustrating, but its also a good opportunity to rerelease models for new collectors or models that were scalped.

I think there are so many other cars they could pull from the franchise. I think if they started doing cars from Need for Speed, they could really breathe some new life into the premiums. I mean we have the M3 GTR now, so they could make the NFSMW hero car if they so choose. And with them bringing back Ferrari, the opportunities are even more expansive

The main thing is to shift the focus from yourself and realize that you as a collector are not in the center of MATEL's attention, and then you will understand that the repeats are released for those who do not yet have these models in their collection. Even if they are insignificant they still have more screen time than the soarer out of Tokyo drift which literally had less than a second of screen time. They did release the Evo in a mainline 5 pack, although it didn’t quite look right because it needed body kit - splitters and skirts to lower the stance. But I agree with the others you list plus many more cars they haven’t touched yet

I don't get the argument that f and f is a gateway to new castings. It's a line of cars that eats into a budget that is ever depleting and clearly it's had its day. Cancel it and create a new line, or cancel it in favour of a couple of extra car culture sets a year. To think how many options there are, to consider the vast back catalogue that hw have and apply that to this release of 5 ever seeing the light of day is criminal. Collectors deserve better.

My problem with this line, as I have said many, many times before on your F&F videos, is not that it exists, but the way it is executed. Just look at your own video's second half and see the 1st box - cool themes, fantastic new castings, pretty nice, fresh models, and even though a few boring and confusing cars here and there, it was still great overall. It was right after Quick Shifters (the 2020 set with the NSX, R33, pink S2000 etc.) when things really went wrong. Ever since then, the whole line seems extremely convoluted and confusing: no real themes, extremely weird car selection, way too many repeats and literally the only saving grace were the few new castings themselves. It's almost as if Hot Wheels stopped having a line manager and started blindly picking up random paper chits from a box to decide what to do next. This line has SO MUCH potential and they're just wasting it away in a bizarre way for no apparent reason.

Guys stop being so localists, in America maybe the Alfa was a peg warmer but in Europe it was a very wanted model. Different regions grew up with different cars and they have different experiences with them. There are people that they have never seen a Holden or an old Dodge or Mustang or even an R34 Gtr in their region. I like these series and I'm still looking forward to see some important cars that for some reason they haven't released yet like the Mitsubishi Eclipse from 2 fast, the golden yellow 350z from the Tokyo drift and a couple of others. Maybe a black Ferrari set with the Supra in a traffic light background? About the repeats the proplem is that they keep repeating some specific ones but not the ones that many people have hard time to find such as the golden brown Supra that has been released only once for example.

For me the ultimate fast and furious set would have Hectors civic in the marble green finish. Letty's road runner and Jenson interceptor. The green Camaro from the ending of fast 5 . The Mona Lisa with chrome effect paint and different rims.

All the hot/hype cars will always sell. There will always be that first time someone walks up to the pegs and see their first skyline premium and be like "damn, i didnt know hot wheels made these". Many guys I know who thought hot wheels only made fantasy cars because its a toy. Once they realize that, they start wanting to collect more. Repeats is a nice way to try and reset the market.
