The Last Homely Garden

The Last Homely Garden

Күн бұрын

Welcome back to my Gardening Channel! Today my Garden Team came and spent a full day working on all sorts of jobs. What a difference they made! Adam, Arran, Seb and Emily worked away all day with cake kindly provided by Hayley.
This is the beginning of June and it has come with a blast of sunshine! Growth is rapid and watering with the hose pipe a daily activity.
I will be back soon to show you progress on all the flowers and vegetables and of course, the weeds!
The gardening KZbins I mentioned are Charles Dowding and Huw Richards. They are such an inspiration!
And over on The Last Homely House channel there is so much going on inside the house too!
Thank you so much for subscribing to my brand new channel. I am really grateful for your support. Click the notification bell as these videos will just be here now and then!
Today, the music I chose from Epidemic Sound is called
What Awaits and Sweet as Honey
Take care and enjoy your garden!
Love
Kate

I am watching this video now on my big tv and my 5 year old came in and said “she’s gardening, she’s supposed to be sewing!” I laughed and said that she does both. 😂

Kate your garden is beautiful, i love that it looks like little rooms , the birds singing is pure delightful , it's summer here in Sydney Australia so I can imagine now the cold and maybe snow is settling in . I was born in Nottingham England in 1952 and came to Oz in 1968 at 16 , so I remember white Christmas's and wet cold grey sky's, but your vlog today was glorious. Looking forward to the summer months when there's a hive of activity going on in your garden . Merry Christmas. I absolutely love the last homely house and watch many vlogs over and over again , you do things so similar to me , I suffer with anxiety and watching your vlogs calm me and bring me so much joy . ❤blessings from Ella in OZ

I love Charles Dowding. He has helped me improve my gardening journey (of 40 years now). I am enjoying your new channel. I live in the Muskokas of Ontario, Canada, which is really a cool climate gardening area. The soil is very poor as we are on the shield rock, and our home is on a sand dome. I was gifted a garden with this house and we have made significant changes to it to improve the soil, making Charles Dowding inspired compost cribs, no dig raised beds, and adding a surrounding orchard fence to keep out the deer and bears, and the occasional turkey and ground hog, and our chickens (although I found a turkey on top of the fence last year). I have a large inground potato patch that has done surprisingly well outside of the compound, and currant, blueberry and raspberry bushes and an ever expanding herb garden. I long to grow fruit trees but the winter is just too cold. We had super hot weather last week when I was planting, and I was out by 7 am to get a few beds in before the sun was on the garden. This week is cooler, everything is doing well or sprouting, but we are in a bit of a drought, a total fire ban and suffering the smoke from forest fires burning in Algonquin Park, and northern Ontario and Quebec. I am at the point of just weeding, watering and looking after all the plant babies and it is a bit of a relief. You have a lovely patch of land, and I love what you have done to grow things, like a bit of a food forest. I look forward to watching your garden grow. Thank you for sharing your journey.

It's good that you have plenty of volunteer help to assist you in your garden. I have 15 beech trees in my garden, but so much easier to trim than yours because they are planted in a pot as a bonsai forest. These days because of health I'm unable to garden liked I used to, so I now have bonsai which I can tend and care for whilst I'm sitting down.
