I finally found time to get back to this project and I'm so pleased I did. It came together really well and is my new favourite item of clothing!
I like it both sides out and I have to say, I think there will be pockets before too long. You know my theory of pockets? A garment is useless without them. So, pockets it is.
If you make a similar thing you could tag me on Instagram. #lhhlgs or #kateatthelasthomelyhouse
The Etsy site where I bought the fabrics is called Colours of Spirit.
Catherine Called Birdy is the film I really enjoyed where Andrew Scott swanned about in a dressing gown that inspired this one!
If you enjoyed this video, why not check out my Patreon channel where I have lots of behind the scenes videos of my various projects. My Patrons enjoy extra content here!

Support from Patrons allow this channel to continue and I am grateful for each and every one of you! Thank you!

While you are on the website, you can take a look at the new page that Rita has created, all about the craft supplies and equipment I use. We are adding to it all the time but you may find your questions are answered there!
You can post your crafts and ideas on Instagram too and use the hashtag #lhhlgs where you can meet other like minded friends. / kateatthelasthomelyhouse
Please check the Playlists where we have grouped together themed videos for you to enjoy. Try this one of the series of videos I made about by Hansen jacket ! • Boro Jacket
The music in this video is from Epidemic Sound and is called Delicate Transitions, Chalet High, Aroma and Patchwork.
Thank you for joining me here on The Lime Green Sofa! I'll pass down some apple caked a pot of tea for you all.
Take care,
Love,

I followed your link to purchase this beautiful fabric on Etsy to make my own dressing gown (which I’ve always called a “robe”, but my grandmother from Scotland called a dressing gown). I am sewing it by hand which is soothing and soothing is what the doctor ordered since I live in the United States and in my 70 years have never witnessed what is going on here today. Yours is my absolute favorite channel to watch on KZbin and I wish you were my next door neighbor!

In America we would call this garment a “robe” or a “house coat/dress.” I love that you take your time to return to started projects. I do the same thing. Creativity is not always “linear.”

Dressing gown is light. Worn over pajamas. House coat or duster same idea, over clothes. Robe can be thicker. For warmth or after bath. Bed coat is shorter, waist length so can be worn in bed, as the name implies 😁

I like that you've decided against the wadding. That lovely soft cotton should be allowed to flow around you like a fabric river. I was hollering "Right sides together" and you heard me. And in the U.S. it's 'bag lining. I'd leave a gap at the bottom to turn it-- cause figuring out if you could turn it thru the sleeves makes my head want to explode. So pretty.... thanks for all your sharing.

My grandmother had a plethora of big huge linen napkins, and I basically did the same thing, but I made a caftan because I didn’t want to cut any of them. So it’s was put together with safety pins to begin with and then I sold it with red thread, so I could see it just to make sure that it fit rider was not too long or whatever and it turned out very similar to what you were doing except mine wasn’t opened up in the middle and of course I never wear it cause I don’t wanna get it dirty makes me wonder if I want to make something like what you’re doing so it will not show the dirt if I wear it.

@@deniseblake6214 what is the specific distinction of each...you have piqued my interest. I just say bathrobe. I just 'won' a SpongeBob Squarepants neon yellow fleece job for xmas, at a party. I hate sponge bob & I hate fleece. I would lean more towards what Kate has or a flannel robe. But my kids thought it was so hilarious that I ended up with this Thing, that I kept it & wear it daily just to bug them. My younger daughter said that it makes me look "too commercial" & she hates it. 🤣 It has done its job!

Here in the states, we simple call a dressing gown a robe. Something to the wear between bathing and dressing. In the winter, it might also provide an extra layer on top of pajamas. I love pockets in a robe. (A place to tuck tissues.) I also prefer three-quarter length sleeves. They don't dip into my morning tea. Enjoy your creation!♥

What wonderful timing! I’m going to dress as Cinderella’s fairy godmother for Halloween to my daughter’s Cinderella. I have the hood figured out, but have been struggling with making the robe. It won’t be out of squares (or maybe it will), but the overall shape will be very much like yours. I’ve decided to go ahead and make a functional robe I can use later. So turning the lining side out will be my costume! Your video has helped me immensely! Thank you!

Hi Kate, I wasn't expecting you to pop in this evening. I'm so glad you did! This was such a joy to watch.. Your dressing gown is beautiful, the music was lovely and as ever, you are an inspiration! This is definitely a project for the upcoming darker evenings.Could even be my daughter's Christmas present!

As someone who often takes time with her projects, I really appreciate that you do, too! And why rush it when the end result is so nice! You have time to really think what you want to do that way, and remember the details like the hanging loop. Such amazing colours in this one.

😊You have the perfect opportunity to use four squares to construct two pockets that could be slipped into the front seams and pressed to the inside. When you ran your hands down the front, I could imagine your hands disappearing into the hidden pockets. On the inside robe you could sew pockets on the outside.

I started three projects over the past three weeks, and, I've settled on finishing a very pretty "memory quilt!" And, yes, you always get around to everything you start! So glad for your upload today!

It’s beautiful Kate ! And the hand stitching is your unique signature !! I am a dress maker also and as you started to pin the wrong sides together I was talking to you on you tube saying No…. Kate Right sides together. Like you could hear me! Oh well, my chuckle for the day LOL 😂 thanks for always inspiring me!

Hi Kate, Love your sewing construction process and your finished dressing gown. Where I grew up the garment was known as a 'house coat'. Many people in the states would call it a bath robe. Anyway yours is lovely 😍

I would never call that a bathrobe. A bathrobe is (or should be) made of terry cloth and used to dry a damp body!
