Great video. Very helpful. Completed Bison grill swap today on a 2020 Colorado. Two things. First, I found that the third 7mm bolt on each side could not be extracted with a socket wrench or ratchet like in the video. I used just the 7mm socket by itself and was able to loosen the third bolt by hand. Tightened it again by hand during reinstall. Second, the two grill clips which snap into the frame cannot be pushed in snug by pounding on outside of grill. I had to reach in via the fender-wells to line up the grill clip into slot and pull it hard to hear the snap. I heard snap clearly on both sides. The tape is available at Auto Zone and I also recommend using it. Thanks again.

Personal preference of course but I like the stock grill better with the Z71 decal especially with the risks involved in possibly damaging paint to do this changeover but yes nice video

Great video, the issue I’ve experienced with these grills is, because they have large openings a rock was able to get thru and damage my condenser and all my Freon leaked out. The dealership at first did not want to replace my condenser, and that was my issue the manufacturer grill don’t offer enough protection from bugs and rocks, because of the large openings. So once they replaced my condenser I went and took off my bumper and installed a wire mesh for protection.

Wow, thank you so much, this is great! I have the Trail Runner edition, so it already has the grill, but I want to take it off and paint behind the Chevrolet so the letters stand out. I never even thought of those alignment pins causing some paint damage, great save! Benefiting from someone else experience, my favorite :).

Really looking forward to seeing the wheel upgrade. Very interested in the offset difference from stock. I have a Colorado Z71 Trail Runner and plan to change wheels soon. But first, the air dam is going to be removed and this video will be extremely helpful because it appears removing the bumper is the easiest way to do it. Great how to video.

If the fog light trim is hard to change, the cheaper was is plasti -dip, works great for little things like that. I would put like 12 light coats, I put like 15 on my grill & still lasting over 10 years.

I have to replace the lower cover on the bumper that covers the tow hooks. Do I have to take the entire bumper off as you did in the video in order to replace it? And if so, is the lower cover clipped into place like the grill?

This is a great video and really goes in depth but the one thing I will say is you make it a lot harder than it is. Removed replaced and put back on the bumper in around 1 hour. I think all the tape was a little excessive. But nothing less good video for those who want to install the grill

I have the "CHEVROLET" grill.. if i wanted to paint that part white without taking off the entire bumper to risk damaging the clips or scratching the paint, would it be okay to wedge some newspaper behind it to prevent over spray, and mask off the other parts of the grill?

It probably will effect mpg if your on the hay alot and at stock ride height. Lots cool without it if you have tires and a lift. It just depends 🤷

I got 3 scratches (4" long and as thick as the writing of a ball point pen) on my front bumper cover that went thru the base coat (Cajun Red Tintcoat). Took it to the Chevy garage and got an estimate. 16 hours of labor to remove/install the cover and paint it plus $250 in materials; over $1100. I am thinking of removing the cover myself and finding a autobody shop to paint it. How long did it take to remove and reinstall the bumper cover? Thanks.
