Cronus may very well have hated his father Uranus from the very beginning, but some believe he was more virtuous and chose to defend his mother Gaia and free his siblings from Tartarus, by turning against his father and casting him out.

Not Zeus; the introduction of Woman in Pandora (All gifts). This was punishment upon Man thanks to Prometheus giving Man the Gift of Fire (to cover up his and his brother Epimetheus' cock-up for not having any attributes to bestow upon Humanity upon their creation.) It was her introduction, marriage to Epimetheus, and curiosity to open the Jar containing all the Ills of the World that drew Mankind away from Paradise (according to Herotodous, I think)

Cronus was a hero for overthrowing his father Uranus and freeing the Cyclops (one-eyed giants) and the Hundred-handed Ones. The Golden Age of Man began, when Titans and mortals coexisted together in harmony. This must be the primordial Dreamtime when Heaven and Earth were in easy communication with each other and mortals could go to Heaven (outer space) without dying, similar to Enoch and Isaiah! That must have been an exciting time to be ALIVE!!!😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇

I just figured that every time, one of them beings takes over the power of their respective fathers, they change to a be exactly as tyrannic as they once, the being they were afraid of, were and they lost everything for power as you said. But it’s so scary to see this. It’s like a curse…They seek justice, free the victims to become the tyrant and the story is repeating itself, again and again. First with Ouranus and Kronos. Then with Kronos and Zeus and then with Zeus and Athena since he swallowed her and she was born from him because he was afraid she would do the same exact thing he did to his father (even if she didn’t succeed). Also both of Kronos and Zeus were the last born…and they both married their sister respective sisters…so (correct me if I am wrong, there is a lot of stories and sometimes I get mixed up lmaoo. Thank you for reading !)

Oranos was motivated by sheer vanity and pride within himself, that I doubt he ever even considered a rival to the throne an actual possibility. The ambition of Kronos is expressed when a council among Gaia and the Titans are held to see who would step up, and kill their own father (and brother). Kronos was the only one to not hesitate, and went so far as to humiliate his manhood through full-on castration. I do not believe Kronos had any heroic intentions other than to glorify himself in the first place.

In most folklores, the youngest child is usually the protagonist or hero. But in this, Cronus is the main baddie...well, Zeus can be considered the same under Gaea's point of view.
@Sidragrosm
@Sidragrosm 4 жыл бұрын
The ~real~ Irony..? is that (at least in some re-tellings) that Zeus' story was very much like Cronus'. (the youngest child rising up to strike down the tyranical "father" for the sake of/ with the aid of the mother...) and both ultimately..? becoming shit-bags no different than the ones they opposed. "Every Rebel is, ultimately an closet aristocrat, longing for what his supposed oppressor has..." (to paraphrase Frank Herbert...)

@@utoresa5193 And yet their stories almost match! Cronus devoured his children to avoid being overthrown by them... Zeus..? did much the same later. (only for Athena to dig her way out of his noggin!) Neither was ~truly~ deserving of the throne, as both were the youngest. (Only in Zeus' case, he was ALSO the weakest - hence his paranoia over being deposed. Cronus..? for some reason possessed, arguably THE greatest power - Power over Time. So..? NOT so paranoid. Just power mad.) Both were also Mama's boys. (Much, MUCH more so in Zeus' case. Also, Zeus was a far greater oath-beaker than Cronus, betraying the Titans that aided him in deposing his father.) Cronus was the more evil, yes - but at least he was straight forward about it. Ironic considering he was also known as "The Crooked One..."

I have no doubt, that Gaea helped Zeus overthrow Cronus, just like she helped Cronus overthrow Oranus. Especially, when Zeus was told to go to the Hecatoncheires and treat them not as monsters, but with respect and familial ties. Thus they helped Zeus beat the Titans. I do think Gaea was the one who suggested to Zeus what to do. It must have broken her heart, that Cronus became like Oranus.
@FB-eg5vb
@FB-eg5vb 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s almost like each generation gets weaker. Kronos had to kill Oranus in a surprise attack with Gaea’s sickle and Zuse had to outsmart Kronos by getting him to drink a potion to throw up his brothers and sisters. You can also see why Zuse wanted of the information from Prometheus. Because he was seeing a pattern both his father and grandfather got overthrown.

Crazy how after 1000’s of years these stories still stand true. It’s so easy to work your ass off for 20 years and become complacent even tho there is much more for you to give. Just as well as other ppl who ever never worked hard and need to improve their lives by simply pushing themselves to beyond where they have been. I destroyed myself for 10 years so my wife could get a nursing degree… worked another decade to set my 4 kids up for success but now I am falling short even tho I am only 36 years old. The stories of old have a heavy presence on the current. Incredible how that works through generations !

Cool video! Just wanna point out though, you accidentally read Titanochamy, instead of Titanomachy. Titanomachy (/ˌtaɪtəˈnɒməki/ Greek: Τιτανομαχία Titanomakhia, "Titan battle").

Since Aphrodite was born from Uranus wouldn’t she be a titan instead of a goddess ?
@riches3581

yes but since she came out of the sea during the reign of olympians and was not titan-sized , she is not considered a titan

The Titans are gods themselves, but Aphrodite joined the Olympians after they overthrew Kronos and assumed rulership over the cosmos.

why there are humans by the time Cronus was in charge if they were only created later by Prometheus and Epimetheus when Zeus was in charge?
@omniavanitas7893

Those were the humans of the Golden Age, best of all races. During Zeus's reign were created the humans of the Silver, Bronze and Iron ages, each race inferior to the one before it.

In the same Mythos, voiced by Stephen Fry. It is said that Moros smiled when Zeus was born like Cronus rule was destined to fail.

In Stephen Fry's Mythos, Prometheus, Zeus and Athena created mankind, they are not around when Cronos is in power, I guess there is quite a few different versions of the myth.
@omniavanitas7893
@omniavanitas7893 2 жыл бұрын
Kronos reigned over the golden age of mankind. After this version of humanity died out, the gods created the silver race of men, followed by the bronze, heroic and iron races.

Why is chronus's nipple in his armpit in the artwork? And if the Greeks thought the universe created "the gods" then why did they have such a hard time believing that the universe was created by the one TRUE God and the rest are just angels and the offspring of angels? Their gods are gods by title, the one TRUE God, who created EVERYTHING is God by name!

Ngl a show traveling through the mythological world of Greece would rule, treating it as true. Preferably animated. Going through the titans rule, fall, and the fate of many titans like Atlas and Prometheus and even some humans like that one guy who cheated death 3 times so he was sent to a mountain to eternally ous a boder up a cliff. It would be neat, showing us the reflection of ourselves.

Corruption on the Earth …3So the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days shall be 120 years.” 4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days- and afterward as well - when the sons of God had relations with the daughters of men. And they bore them children who became the mighty men of old, men of renown.5Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time.…
