This song was always played by my great love, with whom I was fortunate to spend 8 years. After now a one-year separation, during which I walked down dark paths of human emotions, I heard it again for the first time a few days ago. Upon the first hearing, the pain returned, and I shed bitter tears. Today, I listen to it again, and it brings me comfort. My compassion goes out to all those who carry suffering within themselves. Thank you, Libertines, and thank you to all people with tender feelings.

@@trayc2762 This is extremely xenophobic. This is why you will have a hard brexit. And if I told you I'm not British but know, feel and understand everything you have written, know the whole background and know perfectly how this society functions, what would you say? Would you dismiss it all because I am not British, but if I were British, you'd say: aaah, ok, that changes everything? This is why, after knowing the nature of the British society, with all the good and bad things, I choose not to identify with it as I cannot identify with a covertly hostile, xenophobic and hypocritical attitude which is so widespread. The Libertines, the band and people, especially Carl, who is a very open and kind person, are one of the rare reasons I will have minimal contact with this sick society. They sing about a mythical Britain but it's exactly that: mythical and idealistic, but in no way does it represent the real society. Unfortunately.

@TheAkwarium8 жыл бұрын
I think the kids are actually representing Pete and Carl, and the video portrays actual scenes from their lives. When they’re on the rooftop? She’s dancing, he’s watching. She gets sad. She jumps off the roof. Then he goes and sees that she’s okay, that’s a representation of this moment: “1997 I remember sitting on top of a tower block in bow and Carl had that look in his eye he seized me screaming we should throw ourselves off together” The girl represents Carl’s younger self - raven haired, musical, adventurous, and severely depressed (she runs in front of a van too). The way he films her is so loving, also: in a lot of Pete’s works, he refers to a ‘girl’ who’s really obviously Carl. I think it’s just this symbol he attached to Carl from the jump that Carl accepted
