These times can be really tough. They need a parent, but they also need someone they can talk to. Someone who can help them grow out of their shell and into the person they want to be.
I do a lot of coaching with parents. Many parents expect their children to be perfect all the time and we know that life is 50/50. And if it's 50/50, your child can't be perfect 100% percent of the time.
Middle school is hard. High school is hard. Being a parent is hard. It's not your responsibility for them to be happy all of the time.
It's your job to guide them and to let them be their own person. Communication is huge. It is one of the best things you can do as a parent.
