Bruh. I literally just started using Notion last week and had been debating how to add my language learning stuff to it. I specifically remember thinking a few days ago “oh wouldn’t it be nice if the dude with the hair made a video about it?” ..... 😯😂 Needless to say, I’m surprised and very pleased to see this!! Do you by chance know a way I could use this to help remember to study the kanji, and to actually study them better? In a way that works with Remembering the Kanji by Heisig I mean. My biggest problem is not forgetting information - I remember pretty much anything I study or research - but rather forgetting to study and learn that information, I do it with everything I am actually interested in but oddly don't forget with things that I simply hate.

Yeah, part 2 please. Also, I haven't finished the video yet so maybe you mention this, but I realized that if you go into a KZbin playlist, I did the Easy Italian playlist, and use that link to embed a video, you can then cycle though the entire playlist right there in notion. You can only use the next and previous video arrows, so it's not perfect, but it's still pretty useful

Thank you so much for this!!! Wow, you really deserve more recognition. The content you post has helped me tremendously in my language learning journey. I find that, with the more mainstream polyglots, there isn't too much of an explanation for their methods that can be applied to every aspect/language. Esp. with Notion being so new (for me, at least), nobody really goes into such depth with how it can be used this way. Thank you for such original content! I'm looking forward to a part 2 :)

New here. Really enjoyed this video. I've been using Notion since May 2020, really like the software. For those who don't know you can share a page with our people. For example, I've been learning French for years and to help my progress I've started teaching my mum French via video, so I share screen and we work on Notion. She has access to view and comment outside our lessons, so great place for categorised shared resources. The software can allow the guest to edit if you want to the person to have more control. I have also found the person contact template can be changed into a LDND, last done next due, which is great for remember when you last completed a task and it auto calculates when to tell you to do the task again. Anyway, would love to hear more on your Notion setup Robin. Thanks

This was excellent! Very simple yet powerful. My curiosity got the better of me and i try to flesh out some of the stuff you did. This started me down a rabbit hole of getting nested kanbans (ie a task (project) which itself has some tasks in it) , which I now have in my notion. So i have one master databases and have all projects and tasks in this master levels. I then have sub levels for each language which links to this master but filters on the language i want. I then took it one further and made this master include all my non language learning stuff too. I think I'm going to test this out to organise my life lol The other thing I did was, I have a master phrases db for each language, and then i can drill down to each lesson or show to have only phrases from those particular lessons and shows. Not a lot of language learning today but this has definitely set me up to be more effective and efficient in my learning.

After seeing few videos, now I am sure I want more of this way. This is how one can learn it. Already the slope of its learning curve is high, so grabbing all information at once with no repetitions and ideas is no way to learn from. look at 7:00! I think you chose it just cuz it's a book, for your "phrases" page; but, it's the title of a rather horrible section of the bible, the "book of Job." it's not bad per se, just... incongruous? funny?
@RobinMacPhersonFilms4 жыл бұрын
cartweel ahhhh I see! To be honest, this entire video was improvised as I was previously going to show my personal Notion space and after 5 hours of struggling to find a good format, I suddenly had this idea to just build a language learning system from scratch 😅 By that time, time was getting pretty desperate and I did this in one take completely improvised, but it was a super stressful experience haha just watching the clock and trying to build as much as I could. The weird part is that when I did that “phrase book” search, I clicked on one and it was clearly a passage from the Bible and I thought it better to not include that, so I picked another one, and another, and all three were passages from the Bible. So finally I kind of reset with the camera still rolling and just cut that previous part out, but I didn’t even realize that it happened again! I wonder what about that query returns a ton of things from the bible 🤯
