You guys are the most natural family on KZbin with your remote area touring and great videos. Your understanding and appreciation of the little details in the environment and your respect for it, makes me appreciate what you do, as I will be doing the same in 2025, travelling the more remote areas and always choosing the long way around, as you do If you are “ nuts”, then happy to be called “ nuts” as well and simply smile back. Cheers

A terrific adventure that brought back happy memories of when we did the same track. Left Kalgoorlie and travelled along the Trans Australia Railway Access track to Rawlinna, where we overnighted. We also figured we needed to get to Cocklebiddly and going from our maps, laboured along that station track for (I think) 8 hours straight. We got there in one go but were only towing a small Tvan. Stayed at Cocklebiddy, and over dinner there we chatted to the people about the station track. Bloke asked "did you come through the station track"? I said we did and it was slow going. He told us we should have gone a bit further to the next train station Haig (?) and come down that way because it was a reasonably well made road. He said it would have saved us about 5 hours!! We were just there after the big derailment at Rawlinna, and he said all the locals were going there and getting the beer, other drinks and everything else that came from the derailed train. Funny place! (You can thank me later) . (Cue head slap)!! 😀

Hi Liz and Simon , yes great country just like the original gravel Eyre Highway that we travelled in the early 70’s and to top it off we drove a 2 door GTR Torana , very low to the ground vehicle . Brings back memories , thanks you , you 2 . The only issue we can see travelling those really remote tracks is if you have a break down issue , the costs and can you get recovery out there .

A stunning episode! Fabulous drone footage and music made this a superb view of Australia's interior 👌 Would be nice to know the outside temperature during the journey. @filthyoffroadadventures
@filthyoffroadadventures 11 күн бұрын
@ the R4 LRX is our dream van but we don’t have the capacity to tow it unless it’s empty 😂 Our R2SE is slightly narrower, single axle and also shorter. Much much lighter but ours is spec’d up to the max so would be the same type of options you saw on the LRX. The Reconn’s are Hypercampers and that’s why I thought the name Mega-hybrid suites your beast 👌😁

Man, that's some seriously remote country there!! It'd take some getting used to not getting insanely anxious about running out of fuel or having a major mechanical failure whilst being SO remote with your whole family. I suppose you got close'ish to that when you had that diff trouble earlier this year. I understand that we can take every possible precaution as you do Simon (e.g. regular caravan/vehicle maintenance, emergency comms etc.) but for me, I reckon there'd always be that 'X factor' burning in the back of my mind as I tackle something similar as you and Liz (and the kids) 🤔
@TheLifestylePioneers
@TheLifestylePioneers 10 күн бұрын
Yeah, it's definitely a different way of life out here! I think you get used to the remoteness and being self-reliant, but if something happens we're unable to sort out ourselves we have communication, water, food, shelter and well-stocked first aid supplies.

Fantastic! Wish we had continued the track from Kalgoorlie to Rawlinna too now. We weren't sure we could get through, but will definitely give it a go next time we're in that area. We have seen the Indian Pacific twice in the last few months. Once was around midday on a Saturday, when we were on our way to Tammin in the Wheatbelt, and the other around midnight, when we free camped the Trans Access Road right next to the line. I was a bit disappointed, as had hoped it would come past in daylight! It's on my bucket list to go from Sydney to Perth on it one day (might need a Lotto win!)

Dream trip guys🍻 with your new van, could pay off (especially for the roads less smooth) have a chat with the designer and see if they can design a 3-4 point bracket on the back to hold the bikes so they’re not bouncing all the time, or maybe on the front reduces the stress. Lus as someone else posted the background music is to loud during conversation especially if you’re hearings not good and you need the volume up, but loved it and Liz amazing time of day to get up and watch the sunrise in peace👍👍

Well done team, station country is so under rated, not many know or understand the beauty, the quiet, the vastness, the diversity of landscapes, and the magic of camping so remotely. I continually wonder what those properties you’re crossing expect from a biosecurity point of view. Are they asking for weed and seed inspections/certificates or just hoping that you’re not bringing and noxious weed seeds? Do they ever ask? We wouldn’t allow it in SWQ

Sad to say though that you don't teach your children to respect others property and you think it's ok to film it and leave it in the video.
