Here's my honest and unsponsored review of my PRS SE Silver Sky. I've had it for since it released well over a year ago, so i've really had a chance to get to know it.
Hopefully you find this video informative if you're thinking of buying a Silver Sky SE.

Great and honest review 👍 Another thing comparing a PRS SE Silver Sky to a Fender Player Strat out of the box, to keep in mind, that the Fender player strat most probably needs a lot more work setting up the guitar to it’s full potential than the SE Silver Sky. The PRS, at least most of them, are set up way better. This is where I think a portion of the cost of the PRS is going in to.

Really? I got 2 bad se silver sky models before a good one, where as with my player strat it was perfect right off the bat. Both awesome sounding and playing guitars though!

@@s0da.-. I got a Player Strat that had frets that were so bad that Fender paid an authorized dealer to fix them for me. Unreal a guitar would leave the factory with 3 frets that were so high that notes couldn't even play above them on the fretboard. Fixed now, but I think that soured me on the guitar, and I don't play it much. May just sell it and get the Silver Sky

​@@s0da.-.Same here. I went through 3 SE's before I got a good one. I call BS when people saying the Silver Skys are flawless out of the box. I've had Fender Players with fret sprout but the Silver Skys I bought in late 2023 all went back with weird neck issues and uneven fretboards. Now, I have a decent one in Stone Blue but I think some of my Fender Players are worth every penny. For the record, I put ALL my guitars I buy (used or new) through a set up. I've had less serious issues with the Fenders from Mexico over the years.

​@@rickhammel9541that's lame, man, but I had a similar experience with 2 out of the three Silver Sky SE models that I tried out late last year. I think PRS squeezed out a lot of product post pandemic to meet the demand over the last year or two and their quality took a hit. Hopefully they've addressed the issues and won't let that happen again because I really like the model. I also really like the Fender Player series, for which I've had minimal problems with over the years. 🤷

@@rickhammel9541i went to my authorized dealer and got one saturday, thing compares well to my custom shop fender tele, american prs’s, gibson lp studio and my favorite ibanez. Amazing guitar for 850, even better since the dealer gave me a big discount as he has a bunch

Will strat pickups fit in that?

The first thing you say at about 5.10 after "it works and it does what you want it to do" is that it stays in tune. I don't even use whammy but when i have used it on my two ss se's it stays in very good tune.I have had so many limitations to my playing with other guitars, worrying that strumming too hard or bending too much will send it out of tune. With this there is no worry. Occasionally needs a tune like all guitars but its tuning stability is the greatest of all guitars,regardless of price range. That is the conscious and subconscious reason you played only that guitar for months and didn't bother playing the others. I have owned strats and i even owned a brand new core model silver sky and none of them stayed in tune like the ss se.Rock on!

I ordered one a month ago and it came in a really bad shape. After I played it I there was no reason to keep it. The Fender Player FSR with Custom-Shop Fat 50's which I bought earlier this year cost me a 100 € less than the PRS and was just the better guitar - but thats my opinion.

There are a thousand new and used Fender Stratocaster models out there, and yet PRS had to invent a new one? With a different and ugly headstock? What? Was the purpose?

I don't know but it worked. According to Reverb it was the biggest electric guitar seller last year, very popular.

Headstock is a matter of personal preference. I like the PRs headstocks and the fender “modern” smaller headstock where some people like the 70’s huge fender headstocks.

Well there is this guy named John Mayer, you might have heard of him, he had a signature guitar with Fender but they would not make it the way he wanted so he went to PRS and they made it for him. It was so popular they decided to make an affordable one. But hey ignorance is bliss and you are definitely in that camp. BTW Fender has not bee ‘Fender’ since 1965 but you go ahead and give the corporate shills that now own it credit for Leos work.

Change is the head stock enhanced the geometry of the strings resulting in much greater tuning stability.
