Just looking over this video again Colin got me remembering that the original presto's was in the Arndale centre I think it had originally been Brough's supermarket. When Presto's moved over to the site that ended up as Morrison's the furniture company I worked for took over for many years and I spent a good few boring periods waiting for customers to turn up! Next time you're out and about have a look round the back there used to be a turntable there that when you parked a lorry on the weight would turn it round automatically due to space being to small for them to turn naturally

Hi Colin, love your videos, that you actually walk those paths is brilliant...when you went under the underpath to St. John's church adjacent to where you went up to the church was the fence to Lord Lawsons school...the nemesis of every school who came to our patch to do cross country running, our course was short but brutal...you climbed the fence, then ran across the all weather pitch the up the steep hill to the finish...our team of six was Roy Watson, me, Terry maybe the son of the guy who had the shop in Barley Mow

I remember the cross country Course a t Lord Lawson around the Rugby Field then up through the top gate along Portmeades following the Path to St Johns then as you said through the Fence and Over the all weather pitch. I remember the shop at Portmeades we used to hang around there and did less laps lol

@@colinthegeordiehistorian10 a heads up would have been good...only time i played the nick was with a Brian Kirtley, he had done it a few times before, i had no homework done so, at leafold house? the orphanage,,we turned back...he knew a butcher in rickleton/fatfield who treated us like gents, when the day was time for tea we went to home via scotia wood, almost spotted by Mr Wilkinson, woodwork teacher...don't know if it was skinny or fat Wilkie

Liked you comments about colebrook that tree with the rope swing mate, branch that you sat on snapped and I landed on my back fighting to get air in my lungs..their was a bit of a bank down to the field towards where they built the school..and lads being lads we used to make a fire and throw paint cans into it to see what happened...some barley Mow lads put up goal posts and put down grass seed when they cleared the area for those houses.. I remember some massive bonfires built there.....have we really lost that community spirit too! Same area that skirts the golf course we used to climb those prickly hawthorn trees and nick golf balls, slide on a bit of painted hardboard down the golf course towards where the ponds were, slide the ice between the Drive and Northumberland Place, play bugger the cat...involves people's rubbish bins, no cats were hurt in the making of a kids night out in Barley Mow, Every one of us from Barley Mow was a pub singer, ..happy days

The old chimney at 9.10 was for a furnace where they used to burn the rubbish from the co-op, cardboard etc. The brown doors next to the co-op deliveries 9.30 used to be the co-op barbers, where you could get your hair pulled out by some medieval shears.

Colin, just spotted this video from 2 years ago. The barbers mentioned by mick1583 was my uncle`s shop that I mentioned a few days ago. He owned the place outright and had nothing to do with the co-op. The old entrance door can be clearly seen and the bricked up window is to the right. Mick is quite right regarding the furnace/chimney out the back.

The building at 8:48 is/was the scout hut. I went there for Beavers around 2003.

Hi Colin, I'm not versed with the area, what were the secret rooms in the attic of the Moulders. Thank you in advance

They were doing some renovation they found a door had been blocked off. There were some rooms behind the door that had never been seen for a lot of years. Seems like a living area there were fireplaces still in place. Just strange that they had it all blocked off. Would love to have a look around
