@@michellepeoplelikeyoumurde8373 Then we go inland. And all the major cities that are falling apart are controlled by Labour. Oh and just to create some heartbrake tje Conservatives were only in control for 4 years from 2007. Labour have been in control more often since 1994. So in effect, it’s actually Labour that have destroyed Blackpool. 6 of the last 7 Mayors were Labour. How’s them bias apples?

I vaguely recognise some of these places, the bus station in particular. The Funhouse, Pleasure beach and the ice rink. Also the spinning wheel at 0:40. Was it called the wall of death? Reminds me of how robust we were as children. It would be banned today.

Loved holidaying in Blackpool in the seventies. We always stayed in self catering flats.Was there in the summer of 1976 when temps were in 90's every day for a fortnight.Pleasure beach was free ,you could just walk in but books of tickets.Thousands of deckchairs for hire on the prom.Students had summer jobs taking money etc for them. The old green and cream trams.Woolworths,Lewis's, Goldberg s etc open. All the markets in town and along Lytham road.Happy days.

Blackpool was more fun then than now, fond memories of the tower, swimming in the Derby baths, playing slot machines, eating candy floss, the Golden Mile, tramride to the old school Pleasure Beach to enjoy the Fun House in obligatory stockingfeet and went on all the other rides.

And today, with all the spent (or wasted), you could film a dystopian movie. Blackpool councillors, over the last 30 years, have a lot to answer for. They have trashed the place. Blackpool could, and should be one of the best places in the country to live.

Does anyone remember the 2/11 store, I think it was on the corner of the prom and Waterloo road. Everything in the shop was under 3 shillings (15p). Was back in the 60s so a long time ago. Used to love going in there.

My parents took me and my brother here in about 1973, i was 9 and it was the best holiday ever. We stayed in the Seafield hotel. I still remember the family room we all slept in. I remember too winning the donkey derby and claiming a draught set as my prize. Brilliant brilliant times

Slight correction, the shot of a tram in Fleetwood would have been the 80's as the tram in question (Bolton 66) only arrived in the Blackpool in 1981. Enjoyed pictures generally though.

So sad to watch this. I remember Blackpool when it was a busy bustling town, with happy memories. Look at it in 2024, hardly anybody on the beaches in Summer. It has become a shithole. Last time I was there, even the donkeys had left !

Happy memories of Blackpool back in the late 70’s early 80’s. Last time I went with my mum and dad would have been 84 and went to the tower circus. I was a stroppy teenager and the ringmaster told me to clap my hands and I told him to f*ck off. Let’s just say my dad wasn’t impressed and I struggled to sit down for an hour or two. 😅

I know I'm supposed to be supporting Blackpool's changes, but I'm not !!!! The 'changes' that have been made, have only been beneficial to the greedy developers, that have 'milked' the town for all it's worth. I love "BLACKPOOL" and its people. I hate these 'money-grabbing' self centred pigs that see 'profit' as a central goal, rather than the delightful area for all to enjoy.
@uk-martin49052 ай бұрын
The 'changes' are bland, characterless new buildings which do nothing for the town at all whilst fine buildings like the former main post office in Abingdon Street and the magnificent art deco former Red Lion / Leo's Wetherspoons pub on South Shore remain derelict.

Such a pity, after including some great photos from Blackpool in the 1970s, that most of the photographs of buses and trams are from the 1980s and early 1990s.... Bolton 66 tram did not arrive in Blackpool until the 1980s...... the revised green and cream livery on the double deck open platform buses and single deckers did not appear until the 1980s and the HandyBus in Poulton-le-Fylde was not delivered until 1988. The double decker bus on the title page was not repainted into the green roof and stripe livery until the 1980s either. Other than the public transport, this is a superb video.
