I just watched it again after decades and it's even better than I remembered. One of the all-time classic road movies, right up there with Badlands and Bonnie and Clyde.

So glad she got that award. Very well deserved. That movie was amazing, and the script was so great with it's dialogue, storyline, and other great elements.

This is the only Oscar win for writer/co-producer Callie Khouri for "Thelma & Louise" in 1992. A year later from the fall of 1992 thru present, she got a lot of offers in many packages as a Oscar winning filmmaker and today she lives in Los Angeles with her second husband, Oscar/Grammy winning and Emmy nominated composer T-Bone Burnett since 2002. They have only one child.

The song playing when they announce the winner is a version of Glenn Frey's "Part of You, Part of Me" from the soundtrack to "Thelma and Louise".

@@alphonseelric2514 so I read today. Probably true... MP worked with Jonathan Demme on Married to the Mob in 1988 and he wanted to work with her again on SotL but she found the film too dark. And I'm sure she was offered one of the two parts in T&L as she mentioned it as one of her biggest regrets in her career.

Callie Khouri who’s an amazing artist and great friend of mine who has an 1992 Oscar for best writing, original screenplay for Thelma & Louise. But a year later from Fall 1992 - present, she’s got a lot of great offers in many different packages. All said and done.

I think the most interesting looking at this from Late 2021 is that they don't talk about Writing writing on computers or even use the Word Computer, but Word Processor. I believe Word Processors came in just before PC's. I had one - a Word Processor some time in the early 1990's- I think 1994 just when PC''s were coming out, but were expensive.

“You smell that? Do you smell that? ...that’s Napalm, son.” Bob’s lookin dapper as always. Anyway, T&L was both ahead of it’s time and far too late - those kinds of roles for actresses were long overdue. As great as Silence of the Lambs was, and it was, I enjoyed both T&L and Boyz in the Hood much more. The idea that “Bugsy” and “Prince of Tides” both got nominated for Best Picture that year, instead of those two films was ridiculous.

An independent production company was Scott Free Enterprises ran by Sir Ridley Scott and his late son, Tony and its creative staff. What an amazing independent movie to watch. So Sir Ridley was the producer and director of the film’s latter and received his first Oscar nomination for best director in 1992. So she thanked him.
