If you liked Season 2 better than Season 1, you'll like the Mighty Nein. The whole story is a lot darker and there's a lot more specific trauma in everyone's past, but the key is everyone is trying to be better. Also, I just realized that Fjord, like Grog, has a sentient vaguely evil sword that tries to get him to do unspeakable things. The characters in each of the Campaigns follow a certain pattern. Campaign 1 was "We've never really done this before so lets make people who are kind of like us but fantasy." Campaign 2 (Mighty Nein) was "Wow, that was fun and epic, now lets all have a messed up backstory." Campaign 3 (Bell's Hells) seems to be "Alright, we're used to this now, let's get weird."

It's definitely a well-made show, but I just can't get into it thanks to how badly-paced it is. There's hardly any travel and you can't really get a sense for the scale of the world since the characters just teleport everywhere. The show itself is quality, but I just can't seem to settle into it comfortably.

@@Snowie7826 Yeah, the problem is that Vox Machina started streaming when the players were already level 9. They got their first fast travel spell before the stuff with the Briarwoods (Technically they already had one when they started, but not for the people actually in the animated show). If they Animate the Mighty Nein, you'll get a better sense of the world, because they started that one from level 2, so they do a lot of exploring and referencing maps before they start globetrotting.

@@gundamkaizer6947 death would be weird as technically his alignment is permanently stagnant at true gray neutral because hes the agragor of death (not a reaper, jailer or lord/king, but greater in every way yet more restricted). its just in puss in boots we got to see a cherictor that would usually NEVER EVER leave that boundary unless in an end times event leave it because puss was cheating and he could come down do to the loophole it left. We got to see a cherictor that gets to act out maby once every million-billions of years act out and just have some fun. It would defintly be interesting as he would start at true nutral, significantly divert straight to true chaotic evil through the movie. then once he turns back and leaves bounce right back to the center with true nutral as if nothing happened

The way I see it, Puss would either be Neutral Good or Chaotic Good. Maybe even Rebel Good? Kitty Softpaws is Chaotic Neutral leaning Chaotic Good (Chaotic Moral) towards the end of the second movie. Perrito starts True Neutral and becomes arguably Neutral Good. The Three Bears and Goldie Locks are technically Lawful Evil because of how they operate. Death is Neutral Evil because of how he acts, but not exactly Chaotic Evil. Jack starts out and seems to be Lawful Evil but becomes Chaotic Evil by the end because of his reckless, negligent, and destructive actions and desires (even Death had more order in the way he acted towards his main target, blocking out Kitty Softpaws and Perrito from his fight with Puss). If you want to know why I’m making references to the 5x5 Alignment Chart instead of just the 3x3 one, see Stuart’s Rey and Kyle Ren video (it’s literally just one passing reference, but the chart is kind of a spectrum, anyways).

The Mighty Nien is amazing! The characters are all complex and get the chance to evolve while exploring aspects of their backstories that they need to work through or otherwise some to terms with in order to grow. There is an entirely wholesome air of Found Family with M9 as compared to the Lovable Band of Misfit Heroes that VM embraces. These aren't people out to save the world or protect a realm; they're just people traveling together that become a family that no one could break.

The one thing I liked with the Fae Realm attacking Vax is that it wasn't just his mood. He was now bonded to a goddess of Fate and Death. The Fae Realm is a living embodiment of unchecked chaos and life (which, yes, can be also very fatal). There is no way for them to be more separate. The realm was attacking him like white blood cells against an infection. Also, I wonder what hobbit Vox Machina will have as a voice actor in season three. Is it going to be Elijah Wood or Sean Astin?

Of course the Mighty Nein is an excellent series! Everyone plays a completely different type of character which, in turn, leads to dealing with a new part of the same world in completely different ways. It's also honestly much easier for people to get into since you actually get to see how the story begins instead of starting somewhere in the middle the way Vox Machina does. Seriously, something fantastic about Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, and Bells Hells (Campaign 3) is that none of the campaigns really copy each other. The goals for each group (at least, so far) haven't really repeated anything from previous campaigns as the souls of what each team needs is successfully different from each group. Because of this, everything constantly feels fresh from campaign to campaign (even if characters and events from previous campaigns do either interact with or just get referenced in later campaigns, it all still feels fresh because Matt and the others continue to let this world live and evolve on its own). The same can honestly be said about the Exandria Unlimited stories as well.

mighty nein is less big bad to rule them all driven and more everyone got their own villains. the party is probably more chaotic ranging from cursing someone to have dicks for hands to blowing up a building with themselves in it. jester is also a knowing and active member in a cult. that being said, the characters really shine individually in that story by their quirks, backstories, and overall decisions. the final villain is also a huge gut punch to the party which pulls the otherwise crazy road trip of a story together.

Mighty Nein is by far the most character centric season (I call them seasons) to date. Season three is a good one so far but as the cast themselves said, it's pretty much a bunch of NPC/ background characters with one or two main characters. Mighty Nein felt like a Dragonlance novel mixed with Game of Thrones and Final Fantasy. Helps that the cast played in heavy with the characterization of their characters following Vox Machina, going from an traditional epic, world ending danger tale to a more dark fantasy, down to earth story line.I personally can't wait for the Mighty Nein show just to see how they handle all the trauma, PTSD, self-hatred almost every character struggled with.

I have no clue if you'll see this, but on the off chance you do, I have a question about how you'd rule a character doing an evil action but under duress. For example, someone they love is being held hostage and a villain makes the character murder someone so the villain doesn't kill their loved one? For sake of clarity, the character clearly doesn't want to do it and it's something they wouldn't even think of doing under any other circumstances.

I think you have the right idea to completely separate the show from the TTRPG, they're almost completely different animals. Some people will always find it hard to separate the show from the source material, some even leaning on it to such an extent that they'll deny what they see on the screen because "well, if you watched the CR episode where this happened and the Talk Machina episode afterwards you'd know that they did it for a reason" which makes even talking about the show nearly impossible. In the Anime world that's placed with "well, if you'd read the Light Novel you'd understand better." ;)

I'd like to see an Alignment video on Star Trek : Lower Decks. Could be interesting to see what alignment Mariner, Tendi amd Rutherford are. Campaign 2, the campaign starring the Mighty Nein, is actually really good. Totally different vibe from how Vox Machina operates. If Vox Machina are a bunch of asshole mercenaries who step up to be protectors of the realm when they're needed to be, the Mighty Nein are a bunch of misfits constantly running from their problems and tripping over themselves getting into trouble and pulling each other out of it. While Vox Machina do support each other, the Nein feel far more unified as a team and will go to any lengths for their teammates.

Hmmm... Honestly, I think an alignment video on Netflix's Daredevil would be an interesting idea. Some ground rules though. The video would only cover Daredevil Seasons 1 & 2, then the Defenders, then Season 3 of Daredevil in that precise order. (I apologize if watching the Defenders feels like a pain.) Matt Murdock's appearances in Spider-Man No Way Home & She-Hulk would not be covered, given they take place after the Snap, and rumor is the Disney Daredevil series that's in development is supposed to cover events during the Blip. If the video does well, maybe it be open up to spin-offs. Whether it be one covering Netflix's Punisher, Jessica Jones, or Luke Cage, or heck, even the Daredevil movie with Ben Affleck. A big maybe for Iron Fist, but I know that show is disliked by various people.

As someone who started Critical Role Campaign 2 during the pandemic im a little biased (I’m only human after) when it comes to the Mighty Nein but when looking back I’d definitely recommend it if you are interested in something a little different. Aside from being a new cast of characters it is pretty much self contained very little to no cross over and removed from the events of Vox Machina beside a minor time skip, as well as entirely new continent, and further expansion of the worlds themes. From a gameplay standpoint it’s kinda the first time we see how the players interact with lower level and more of a sandbox style of play which leads to some unavoidable pacing issues and early lack of direction. And in general the cast moving away from the archetypal fantasy heroes to make more flawed “human” type characters (trust me there’s some angst for good measure). For just some non specific/non spoiler descriptions we have: A former sailor Half-Orc swordsman with some arcane baggage A dangerously smart human martial artist lady with a complete lack of discipline A very moody hobo mage with even more arcane baggage The smallest kleptomaniac creature with a bit of a alcoholism problem The most deviously wholesome and naive Tiefling Just the most magnificent bastard who is also a Tiefling Their companion and distant moody titan of a barbarian woman which has a tendency to disappear for awhile (guess who Ashley’s character is) But yeah this is most of the Mighty Nein in a nut shell the rest would be spoiler territory

I think a DnD Alignment Video about the three lords from Fire Emblem Three Houses would be interesting. Dimitri, Edelgard, and Claude all have different though processes on how to handle things. Though this is a video game rather than an animated show. If I needed to suggest something from a show though I would say maybe Yusuke Urameshi, Kazuma Kuwabara, Shuichi Minamoto aka Kurama, and Hiei from Yu Yu Hakusho since the four of them are all interesting as a group and team. That's just my thoughts though and you don't have to do them if you don't want to. Please keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next Alignment Video and more from Pokemon DnD on the other channel.

I personally like the mighty nein better than vox machina, granted i was a late comer to critical role, but the story of the MN was a lot more personally motivated by its members. More about the group helping each other solve their problems and saving the world on the way. Vox machina is more the other way around, saving the world, but they need to get over their personal hangups before they can.
