This is easily one of the best houses this channel has showcased. I love the 70s 'mustard vibes' that they've revamped for modern audiences

Gorgeous home. Definitely the best one shot here in the US so far because, not surprisingly, it has many styling cues similar to NZ/AU contemporary architecture.

WOW. AMAZING! So thoughtfully designed and absolutely breathtaking. Many fantastic features that work together beautifully. I particularly like the unique canopy that creates dappled sunlight -- which gives a feeling of nature to an angular, contemporary structure.

Stunning home. It is very modern but at the same time, warm in its colours and finishes and inviting in its layout. Your philosophy reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright, who also designed his buildings and everything that went into them. Just beautiful. Bravo!

It's interesting seeing the ways that American and Australian architecture differ. Not that this property is trying to be gaudy but the absolute excess is such a contrast to the more subtly humble videos from Australian architecture on this channel.
@alex.unlisted Жыл бұрын
I hear your point, but the architects themselves mention that this was luxury design. So though I think there’s truth to your statement by even their standards, this is not standard design.
@AB-ol5uz Жыл бұрын
alot of what adds value to the Australian homes featured on this channel are their stunning settings...this one clearly has a beautiful setting but the home itself would stand out regardless of where it was in the world - and that says alot about who sophisticated the design is....and the overall screen that shelters them from the sun is genuis. The glare and extreme temps are not something to joke about there so it's great that they were able to create so many indoor/outdoor experiences that are actually usable in that climate.
@nickb- Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree. It's in no way a vulgar house, but the sheer scale (and budget) of it would be very, very rare in Australia. A good comparison is the Shaun Lockyer Mosman house featured on a previous Local Project. It has been called "the best house in Mosman" but it is positively modest in scale compared with this hotel-like residence.

has nothing to do with American vs Australian - you can find plenty of ultra-minimalist architects in the US

This has to be one of the most interesting and well balanced projects presented. The light through out the day and how it comes through the roof is art in itself. Beautiful. What type of shade material did you use for that incredible light filter to provide shade outside but still allow some light to come in?
@pihermoso11 Жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it has to be aluminium or copper panel, laser cut and then put into frames, if steel is used the problem would be rusting and corrosion, aluminium and copper would be the better choice to prevent corrosion and rust

To have the shift as the sunlight moves across the sky , I get it. In fact just before I saw the effect itsélf, I was thinking about that very same effect, that it the light should shift through the circular opening as you comé into the house, and I like the effect they created with the netting like effect and the way it plays the exterior of the home. But in the inside of the house, that would be very annoying.
@ScottValentine Жыл бұрын
What's going on with that roof? Looks great from the underside, looks like a maintenance nightmare from above. Super cool house, I want one. Tine to rob a bank or start a MLM scam.
@mrvk39 Жыл бұрын
Why do you think it's a maintenance nightmare? The only thing that could ruin it would be foliage but in that climate it doesn't really exist. There is no snow either and, it rarely even rains, it's a desert climate. It's very dry, sunny, warm.
@ScottValentine Жыл бұрын
@@mrvk39 typically a roof is designed to allow whatever falls on there to fall off. Rain, Snow, Tree branches, etc.. you get the point. This roof system has an exposed grid system to the top where you'd usually cover it in metal, tiles, polycarbonate or whatever. It's possible in this location it's not a problem. But typically for at least part of the year, you will have wind, you will have some rain, dirt gets stuck in a joint slowly causing issues and in this location, I'm sure the UV rays are punishing on whatever you throw out in the sun. So given the level of design rigour of this house and the extraordinary detailing I'm curious as to what is actually going on with that roof system.
@mrvk39 Жыл бұрын
@@ScottValentine fair points! Just having been to Palm Springs, I know it to be an extremely dry, desert environment where it doesn't rain often, but it does rain, of course. And typical desert vegetation doesn't have leaves or branches but who knows? Dirt and sand would certainly be an issue..
