You can use a tumbler for the sanding whit sand you will have a great results and less work great video

Band saw or scroll saw? I’m torn between which to buy.

That is a great question! I have both, and personally I do much better on the bandsaw for small pieces. Scroll saw is amazing for details but on smaller pieces it can be hard to control since the blade is going up and down. The bandsaw just pulls down so it is very easy to control and I like to just do final shaping at the disc sander. But some Scroll masters might disagree 🙂
