@Lu Label Nothing in the show is imaginary, from the politics of the neighbors or the terrorism of the south. As a fan of Ari Aster horror films, I thought this series was well planned and highly executed. Yipipo dont own the monopoly on suffering and trauma.

This show was so hard to watch! Despite the negative reviews, I think it does help to start an important conversation about mental health in the black community. Black people are going through so much in this country and they went through more in the past. I appreciate the writers and the actors for this show and for finding such a creative way to display what black people may have been going through back then.

Great writing Little Marvin. I grew to hate all the white characters on a personal level. I feel the need to apologize to all African Americans who are or were beaten down by racism. Makes me more ashamed of my ancestors who started this treatment. Ignorance was quite common back then. We are all human, all equal and all should have the same opportunities available to us always. Those first three white characters need to be killed at some point. Even though I am done with Season 1, I find myself still wanting this family to seek out those people that killed their baby boy. Thank you again for a great viewing experience.

Phenomenal writing. This film is a movie that generates conversations of how it was and how it it’s relatively the same today. I was heartbroken to see and feel the struggles of the families trauma. The neighbors hate and constant actions that tell the family on day 1 they are the outcasts of the neighborhood. The more non black people feel the pain and see the experiences black and brown people go through on a daily basis, minds can be changed.

@8:39 this right here is exactly how I feel about films that take on the traumas our parents and grandparents went through. It boggles my mind to see my generation and younger be so self righteous to think, these types of imageries are so called “unnecessary and anti-Black” the audacity. My grandmother all of my aunts and my mother all Black Women were terrorized in school all through their youth by whites. Do I want them to relive these horrors? No, but I want this generation of whites to gain renewed guilt and perspective. Because it carries weight onto the fabric of white supremacy. It makes them look even more like the “Boogyman” I am grateful for the Jordan Peeles and Little Marvins going in this direction and hope more comes out.

This is where I have a problem . The film industry shouldn’t be the ones educating you of our past. Do the work. Just watching the series may inform you of certain situations but the issues run much deeper. You don’t gain much but awareness from watching but it’s like “what’s next?” . The film industry seems to center their content on black trauma (shootings, drugs, incarceration ,historical trauma). I get trying to create art but most of the time it is not Black people who benefit from it. Additionally most of the watchers aren’t even black. What do they gain from it “awards” putting your name out there. Money.. that’s about it..

like many others i agree, this is very traumatic, triggering, and heavy. i literally was shaking and crying watching episode 9 because it is not entertainment. it is the truth. the truth that hurts so bad, but is SO NECESSARY to be told. even though this was very necessary, there does not need to be any more movies or series about black trauma. we are so much more than that. we still have yet to tell stories of black billionaires, inventors, and creators on a mass scale. the hidden figures and madam c. j. walker are the stories i want to see more of. all in all this show was very well written and produced, but watch it at your own caution.

It was so hard to watch, especially at the worst parts, but in a way it needed to be done, white people(including myself) we don’t know the circumstances of what happened back then, and seeing pictures isn’t enough in my eyes, I believe we should know whole heartedly what our ancestors did to black people, how ignorant and obsessed they were with “white is right”. I couldn’t help but feel so horrible knowing this really did happen to so many black families and black Americans(not the paranormal part, just the blatant racism) the anguish, the fear, the revolt, the dis-attachment to themselves/culture, the feeling of unacceptance. The fact these feelings are still being held in the hands of so many of them. Just because we are out of slavery, or the Jim Crow era, doesn’t mean these feelings have gone away from both black and white people. We need to do better as white people, we need to know what our ancestors did, and we need to live with the fact it’s still happening. It’s now just passive aggression, micro aggressions, macro aggressions, executioners who have a gun at their side waiting for a black person to make the “wrong move”. We need to realize our white privilege, and use it for the betterment of the people, and not for ourselves, because we still make up so much of this country, still hold most of the power. When will we help? If you’re not helping, you’re just as bad as the white characters in this series.

S P O I L E R A L E R T (As if anyone would read this remark anyway - ha!) In the first episode as they are celebrating and dancing in their beautiful new home (before morning came and the crows had gathered, setting up camp with polite folding chairs and radios blaring), you see the potential of their joy. Their bond is so beautiful and you mourn for all that came against them to take their joy. For some of the story, i feared they would be casualties, either psychologically or just plain killed. They were sustained and ultimately triumphant was joy in a sense, I think. Hard-fought for.

I liked the series. As a Black American, I can appreciate what the characters were going through. As far as a British black person and an African black person, the leads didn't have the lived experience of being a black American. So them being able to decompress themselves from the characters' experiences 😏. I Loved the Tap Dance character. The gentleman did a great job with that. I felt like the white lady who was the main antagonist was given a reason for her bigotry when they showed us her back story being assaulted by her father. Also, I didn't like that they made the family that assaulted the mother and killed the baby, like some deranged hills have eyes characters. As if regular ole everyday whites weren't doing such things back in the day. (I'm from the south, I've heard stories!)They weren't mentally disturbed!

I'll tell you it was creepy, but made me really hope some of the scenes were never actually reality. We are a country filled with hate, so parts of this really broke my heart. Everything is a trigger for everyone anymore. For me this was an opportunity to learn more about history. As a society we need to look at these things and learn how to move forward from past traumas.

I love the acting. However, I purposely looked up the background of the actors because so many Black actors now are actually from foreign backgrounds and for some reason I had this inkling some of these actors were not Black Americans playing these roles. To be honest, the southern accents were not particular to the area they previously lived and not really good. Even though I love seeing Black actors of any background in movie roles, I just would appreciate it more if actors who are actually Black American who can draw from their ancestors, their grandparents, and great grand parents could be first to do these roles and tell these stories. I can see a foreign actor here and there in a role like this, but they seem to be overused telling historical stories of what happened to Black Americans. It just hits different. I think what needs to happen is that Black people in the US and the UK of foreign backgrounds simply need to have more stories representing their own stories in the UK and in the US instead of everyone being cast as Black Americans with Southern roots in the United States who were the descendants of those in slavery. Let's really expose the diversity of the Black experience throughout the world and in the USA. Expand the experiences being talked about and please start using Black Americans with southern roots in the US and the descendants of slavery start telling their HISTORICAL STORIES AGAIN.

In the occult, a kiss is a transfer of power. The White girl made the black girl white after the kiss.
