I discovered TCV about a month ago and can’t believe I was only 15 years late. MENC, DEF and Caligulove don’t make my top five songs, which shows you how insane this album was. (Top five in no order is NOLMANDI, NF, Elephants, SB and Bandoliers).

This is one of my favorite albums of this century so far. I've been astonished by the resistance to it. Haven't been able to get any of my musician friends interested in it, and some people can't get past the Grohl-hate (which I've never understood). I still don't get why this wasn't a much bigger record than it was. It remains a largely undiscovered gem.
@stormbringercoming81055 жыл бұрын
The respective managers, attorneys, various record companies weren't making as much money off this as opposed to another record by their respective group. Often, these projects get made to please the artists, but get "sabotaged" so they go back to their regular gig. Plus, what record company will push a record if the artists don't tour too much to support it? Sometimes, it just gets lost in the shuffle. At least it's out there.
@chrisplatt19863 жыл бұрын

I can't profess to "Grohl-Hate". I can't have much to do with him when it comes to Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, cuz he knows something about it, and if there ever was a prime suspect for something, well, Love is it. So I just can't be a Grohl fan. But in truth, I just want him to stay on drums. When he ventures off of them, I lose interest. Foo Fighters just aren't my thing, but I do like "Rope" alot. But when he's on drums, I am absolutely happy with the dude.

+deathmetaldouglas69 I agree - it's a bit strange he's not included as much. I guess it's do with the whole 'supergroup' thing. But considering the people he's played with, he meets that requirement. In interviews I've seen Josh and Dave mention him, but the interviewers always skip over it.

@Stechunderscore8 жыл бұрын
+deathmetaldouglas69 Why did he keep them from playing on the first RHCP album?
@deathmetaldouglas698 жыл бұрын
Stechunderscore Because they were in HIS band What is This. RHCP became a side project once WIT got signed and produced by Todd Rundgren. They had a video in 1985 covering The Spinners "I Be Around". Jack Irons is in the video but Hillel Slovak already rejoined RHCP in time for Freaky Styly. cliff Martinez drummed on that 2nd album and Jack Irons got to the "The Uplift Mofo Part Plan" which was the band's third and best album. Their 3rd album was the only album with ALL RHCP original members.
