Every musician knows that one musician who can take over any show, on any instrument, here we've got 4 of them. I know one of them, you get him on the drums and the room will thunder, but never too much, if you get him on the guitar, he never rips a solo, he just puts a quick bend where it's needed to bring the song up, you put him on the bass and the song will be super tight, you put him on the vocals and a beatles concert has begun. But the you put him on the keys and you just wonder why you ever put him on anything else. I won't say this person's name but i've played live with him a few times and they are always the best shows, because the entire band knows exactly what he is going to do. and we all do it, without talking about it or anything. We just know from the little hints in his playing that the song is going quiet, loud, speeding up or slowing down.

same - combo lap bass and guitar is my guess
@shanemackay4933 жыл бұрын
It's a custom-made 8-string "lap" steel with a chaos pad on it. JPJ had it made with the neck offset 45 degrees or so from the body so he could play it standing up. I did a bunch of research back when these guys were touring, so details may be fuzzy...

I'm sure I heard an interview with Josh in which he said JPJ struggled with the demands of this tour which was 11 years ago, he's 74 now so I doubt we'll be seeing another tour
@metallica666254 жыл бұрын
Josh can barely make it though one tour these days. I believe he only wants to be a father now.

Vinyl Diary666 we won't see a tour, best we can hope for is an EP and a few performances on TV

this is me, in 2021, realizing that the Crooked Vultures bassist was JPJ.... what the fuck? how did this knowledge pass me by as a kid? how can we get another album?

All those years playing skate three, loving dead end friends. I had no idea what I was getting myself into haha. It sent me down the rabbit hole of TCV and QOTSA, thank you skate three

I had this exact experience! That game (along with a couple of NFS games) got me into all of this mess, along as being more familiar with Dinosaur Jr and the Thermals. We love a good video game soundtrack with some fantastic rock bands on it!!

Holy shit, we all know they are awesome but can we talk about the mix, it's so rare to hear a bass so prominent

Aside from watching David beat those drums like they insulted his mother and JPJ playing every instrument like a virtuoso, hearing them both singing blew me away.

Okay....The best live KZbin concert I've ever seen. If I was there I could have said the best concert I've ever seen...and I've seen many. Dave and John so locked in the pocket it's insane. Josh sounds so firkin good vocally and on guitar.....Dammit. Great to see John Paul Jones jamming with a big smile and singing! So f*cking cool he is. Incredible show man just incredible. If there's a school of rock somewhere they need this show played the day before finals ...."Now your term paper should reflect what you just saw and how it pertains to everything you've learned about the last 50 years of Rock n Roll......"

Truly epic album musically and the sheer volume of talent in such a small space. Three stylistically different artists came together to make perhaps the greatest album ever.
