I flew British Caledonian from Atlanta to Gatwick back in April '82, actually it was the first day of the Faulkland's War. It was economy but it was spectacular! The stewardesses were all young and gorgeous in their little skirts providing my 18 year old self with Screwdrivers all the way! Visiting England was a dream come true for me. The on-board movie was "Chariots of Fire" England and Scotland lived up to my expectations complete. It's amazing how much we've lost on both sides of the pond since then.

I'm glad Virgin contacted you. On my return journey from Toronto with Premier Airlines, the captain made a personal appearance to tell us he had a family, was retiring soon and wanted to get back safely. "So we are flying over as much land as possible." It kind of built my confidence, but a lingering worry kept me listening for the engines throughout the flight. I changed my trousers as soon as I landed. Premier went bankrupt around a week later.

I was working for British Airways during 09/11 some of the calls I took that day will live with me the rest of my life. Just harrowing grief from people trying to make sure their loved ones were ok, as when it was all unfolding early that Thursday morning BA weren’t even sure if any of their aircraft were affected so I couldn’t even try to console them and tell them their loved ones are ok.

Small world. My husband went on a Virgin Atlantic 747 LHR to LAX with Virgin Atlantic at about the same time. In November 2001, Virgin was offerin return flights from Heathrow to Los Angeles (£99 including taxes) and Hong Kong (£199 Inc. taxes) in a bid to get nervous people back into the air after 9/11. My husband availed of both offers. Re. the LAX flight, there were 52 passengers on the Jumbo 747 and extra crew members on board changing locations. They pitched in making nearly I cabin crew member for every 2 passengers. Naturally everybody became friendly and the whole flight was like a good hearted social gathering. He doubts that any airline has ever given such fabulous service as he experienced on the outward and inward flights. Later his £199 Hong Kong flight was excellent too. He is still grateful to Virgin Atlantic for those opportunities and for the wonderful service given.

If you miss the 747 Lee, Lufthansa and Korean still use them for passenger flights. How about Birmingham- Frankfurt- USA 🇺🇸 You should have asked the Cabin Crew to sort out the ‘lady”behind you, never do things yourself on an aircraft. I worked in Customer Services for an airline for many years, so I know a bit about the subject.

9/11 attack was in 2001, the same year that my wife died from cancer. When the first news came in I heard it on the radio as I was driving a minibus back to the depot from a school run and I clearly remember that the initial report stated that a light aircraft had crashed into one of the towers. By the time I'd taken the minibus back to the depot and driven home it was all over the TV channels and I watched the second aircraft flying into the second tower live on BBC. A day I shall never forget.

I fly with Virgin Atlantic all the time and have never had a bad flight. There have been a couple of occasions where the whole journey wasn't quite right - a lounge in Seattle didn't grant us access when it was the one shown on the Virgin website and one time bags at LHR took nearly an hour to appear - however if you let Virgin know (and they want you to) they always deal with things so well. They are excellent and I will continue to choose them every time!!

Just got back from Chicago flying BA in economy. Terrible experience. Economy section is now squeezed into the back 1/3 of the plane 10 seats to a row (3-4-3). Seats felt narrower than an EasyJet flight. Couldn’t get any sleep as you were literally shoulder to shoulder. Food was awful and you had to eat as if in a straight jacket. Then for an additional kick in the nuts, when you disembark you have to walk through the premium and business class sections, envious of those that can add afford the luxury. They were set in rows of 4 (beds) across, compared to 10 in economy. And to rub our poor noses in it further, the Trans Pennine Express from Manchester to Sheffield was rammed. People having to stand for 50 minutes. No air conditioning and now windows to open. It was stifling. One women actually passed out and I had to seek the attendant who was in the first class carriage in front. The first class carriage that was 3/4 empty with full working air conditioning. It feels like as well as being priced out of driving out cars, they’re also making rail and plane travel only please t for the rich. 💰💰💰 BTW Loved Chicago, you have to do a blog there. Baseball game, Architecture River Cruse, Cycling on the lakefront, Billy Goat Tavern, Mr Beef, Weiner Circle, River Walk, West Loop. Magnificent Mile, The L Train. Loads of content for you 👍 We did 8 nights but could easily have done 10. Only negative is the price of beer. £8-£12 a pint 😳 Although not too bad of you drop on happy hours 🍻

About 5 years ago I flew to Corfu. All the way on the flight a child screamed all the way. Now I suffer from tinnitus, so this noise exploded in my head. We had a fantastic holiday. On the return flight, not only was the same child on the plain but closer to me and another child was sat on a parent's knee directly behind me and was kicking my seat before we even took off. On landing, I told the wife I would never fly again. And I haven't.

Here's the low down regarding the drunk passenger. Under the Air Navigation Order it is illegal to be intoxicated onboard an aeroplane. The dispatcher at Las Vegas would be keeping clear of it as removing her from a flight involves a shed load of work and aggro. Similarly if the plane crew refused to accept her onboard (backed by the Captain as that's where their authority comes from) they they would be looking at a long delay as her bags would have to be located in the hold and removed before flight. (could be a bomb) Really the situation should not have presented as she should not have got near the plane and the cabin crew, knowing the situation, should not have accepted her due to the ANO.

I had a very minor issue with Emirates entertainment system, when I travelled with them last year and raised this with them on my return. Emirates got back in touch with me and they gave me 60,000 reward points, I like you said that they did not have to do that but they insisted. I have travelled Emirates from Australia to UK on two occasions and I can truthfully say they have been my preferred airline, they are simply great, service, food, aircraft, everything. I am travelling Singapore airlines next year so I will be interested in how they compare. Hard to beat Emirates though.

My wife’s twin sister lived out in Florida back in 2001. Barely a week after 9/11 we were on an almost empty Virgin 747 flying down to Orlando - the flights were around 1/4 of what we would normally pay. We routed over New York and could still see the smoke rising from the World Trade Centre site. Both my boys (age 8 & 11) took a side row of 3 seats each, and my wife and I each took a row of 4 in the centre, there were only around 50 of us in the whole of economy class. The cabin crew were incredibly friendly, even inviting myself and our boys onto the flight deck - I’m a private pilot and had my license with me, how things changed soon after.

Good vid. I also like flying with virgin and agree some aspects have dropped. But it funny when vlogers have a bad flight they get compensated. But we flew to San Francisco last year, booked through virgin, flew virgin Manchester to jfk then delta from jfk to San Francisco. The virgin flight fantastic. But the Delta flight next to no service no food one round of water at the start of the flight and the cabin crew made themselves invisible. Baring in mind we were late into jfk so only had time to transfer. I logged a complaint and heard nothing back not even a basic apology. So im going to be evoiding delta from know on. We still had an amazing holiday but that was clearly a downer. But I’ve noticed these big airlines seem to jump through hoops with vlogers over there normal customers yes some times it can flip. But does demonstrate the difference airlines service towards certain customers other others. I hope she has compensated all the other passengers affected by those two??????

I have lots of videos, but to find the correct one i would be searching for weeks to find them. Surely you must have a Petabyte of storage either on a server or a cloud somewhere. Same with all these videos you make I am guessing you never delete them and just store them. The average video size is nearly 1tb for a 30 min 4k video and you upload a video daily some 10 mins some 2 hours. Bet whoever you use for storage loves your invoice at month end.

Well a few points i would raise here with you… How many times have you flown on an airplane and this has happened?? Not many as you would have many videos about it. Another thing is if you are nervous about flying or whatever is going on in their private lives, you are on an airplane with your video out doing a video or vlog. A lot of people don’t want that as they feel that they should have privacy and I agree with that. It’s the same as you reviewing restaurants, it’s people’s livelihoods and yes maybe once in a while you can get a bad meal. You could even go in one night and it’s a party that’s rowdy in a restaurant. That’s the way it works and goes… Just remember it’s hard enough to make a living to start with and you can catch a restaurant and takeaway on a bad night. The fact that you then review it and slate a business for it must really effect the owners staff and everyone behind the scenes. So just from one review you can make or break a business and that’s not really fair then is it?? That’s not how this works mate come on. If it was a baby screaming on the flight for 8 hours then what???

I even filmed a rat running around the pool area which was attached to the dining area, i ended up with food poisoning on the bonus side the hotel staff were fantastic especially the waitresses in the dining area. I sent the video of the rat and pics of accommodation to Jet2 and they offered me a free seat on my next flight but had to be used within a certain space of time. I flew to Egypt with my wife, half way through the night flight I reclined my seat (as everyone else had done); the woman behind me wedged her foot into it in protest and stopped me reclining... I tried again... same thing. I whispered to my wife that the person behind was stopping me (she was fully reclined). My wife called over the air stewardess and said "my husbands seat seems to be broken we cannot recline it" - all quite loud and in full view of the passengers behind us. The stewardess pressed the button and said "seems to be working fine" - then the gobby person behind started complaining that she didn't want me to recline. The air stewardess very firmly told her - "Mam, this man is fully entitled to recline his seat, as are you - you must NOT stop his seat reclining..." - basically told off this woman who then went on to complain about the legroom - the stewardess then said " Well mam, perhaps you should purchase one of our other seat options in future!" - quality. So to answer your question "What should you do?" - pretend the seat is broken and call the air staff.

I flew Virgin to Boston when I was very young, don’t remember anything about the flight but I’ve got a bag somewhere that they gave me. They used to give lots of freebies, a bit like BA did with free flight socks and eye masks etc. Unfortunately with cost cutting Virgin is like any other airline now, they’ve lost their identity a bit. That was good of them to get in touch and apologise, I thought they were going to tell you to remove the video. I’ve got 27,594 even though I haven’t flown Virgin, they were all from Delta and Kenya Airways flights I’ve taken recently. That can get you a lot of Greggs sausage rolls. Also you flew a 747 on the way to New York in 2001, and an A340 on the way back!

I'm very sorry but I can't agree with you that Virgin made flying glamorous again. If your early flight had personal screens and at seat telephones, that was NOT the early days in the 1980's. Your own comment in the video implied that it was 2001. Of course the standards of service were better then but that could be generally applied across the board to all airlines. I don't believe that there was anything particularly special or glamorous about Virgin that couldn't be said equally about other good quality airlines such as the old Swissair or the Far Eastern carriers. US carriers have always been substandard. It is Americans who rave about PanAm and how good it was, by their standards. Yes, PanAm had a large route network and in the post-war era people were impressed just by something being American, but in truth their standards of in-flight service were not the best. Can I assume that the passenger seated behind you was not actually consuming her own alcohol aboard the aircraft. If she was she could have been reported to the cabin crew.

I travelled Pan Am and TWA in the 80's and it was way more glamorous than the other airlines. Check out my TWA Hotel video and it will show you what it was like. Outfits designed by Famous clothes designers.

@@TheMacMaster I travelled with PanAm in the late 70's between JFK and LHR in both F and Y and would disagree. When directly compared with other carriers of the era it was not the best. Most reputable airlines had uniforms designed by famous clothes designers. Also, with respect, I wouldn't put too much faith in what is claimed by a 'recreation' like the TWA hotel. That Lockheed Constellation interior at the TWA hotel, from before my time and yours, is fake. No aircraft interior was ever configured like that. As for the rest of the hotel, well, that is a hotel not an aircraft interior. The hotel may well be a nice fun place to stay but is not an accurate recreation of anything.
