In two days, it's Thanksgiving Day here in America. My daughter-in-law cooks a "killer" turkey (and it looks like turkey😊). Along with mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, peas, collared greens, macaroni & cheese, and apple & pumpkin pies. I can't wait!😋

I've now seen 3 reviews of Spoons Xmas dinner and this was the most positive of all of them. A very generous score! Elsewhere the carrots and parsnips were inedible so you were lucky. You could start with 10 and deduct points as appropriate: No sprouts - minus 2 No roasties - minus 2 No Yorkshire pudding - minus 1 Processed 'turkey ham' slices - minus 2 = Total score of 3/10 No sprouts or roasties on a Xmas dinner is a crime against humanity. And the prices at Spoons have gone through the roof. Far better and cheaper elsewhere which probably explains why a lot of Spoons are almost empty even at peak times. My local one (Newark) has actually closed down.

The one in gainsborough not far from Newark is always packed, BUT they do sell carlsberg cheaper than any other spoons I've seen, it was £1.99 a pint for years, but up to £2.39 last I checked

It's probably a higher price because of the location. Blackpool promenade is notorious for being slightly dearer, so other branches of the chain may be a little cheaper.

My late father in law prepared a beautiful Christmas dinner years ago..he made yorkie puds and served the meal..a guest remarked.. I thought it was a good meal for the price to be honest mate and your score was very fair. Too many Anti-spoons snobs about. You'd pay double and get leas for that in most places. You got a drink with it as well so I'll go with an 8/10 all things taken into account. As I've said to you a few times, i honestly have never had a poor meal at a Wetherspoons. We're children together, Lee because I don't like stuffing either. Here in the States, they smother it in thyme and that flavor does absolutely nothing for me. My favorite Christmas TV commercials were by a toy manufacturer known as Mattel. They always had great new products mostly for boys such as guns, grenades, and such. They wouldn't do very well today. Oh, btw, I do love green bean casserole.

Good Evening Gentlemen. Here we have together 2 of the most Wonderful people on the U Tube Universe. This very Lovely and Modern Establishment of Wetherspoons. One of the most Gorgeous and very Cosy venues on the Wetherspoons Pubs Map. The Velvet Coaster. I thought that the Christmas meals were Lovely and Good value for your money. Washed down with 2 Pints of Abbot ale. I thought the price alltogether was very reasonable. Glad you both enjoyed your meals and time spent together. My favourite Christmas advert, was the Ferrero Rochet one with the Dinner Party at the Embassadors Ball. If you remember that far back. I really do miss, the old Christmas Adverts. I am not to keen these Christmas Adverts this year. Just doesn't feel that Christmas Atmosphere vibe. Where are the Christmas songs now??. After shopping trips, we used to call into our local Wetherspoons for a 10oz Aberdeen Angus steak dinner, with a pint for approx. £12. It was some of the best steak which I've had. But in 2018 they changed meat supplier and the quality went downhill fast. Today, it's a very average 8oz sirloin still £12. Disappointing. ☹

My wife and I don't need to, but we visit many Wetherspoons and we can honestly say we have never been disappointed with the quality and, of course, the price of food & drink. As I reported to Stephen recently when we will be staying at the Big Blue hotel soon we will certainly be taking the Xmas dinner at the Velvet Coaster, which is a wonderful pub restaurant.

I had one last week, it was good. I place no expectations on it except to say I want it to be tasty. It’s like a canteen meal and in no way resemples what I will be eating on Christmas Day but at £12 it’s not going to. On Christmas day I will have roast spuds, sprouts and every thing you would expect (no Yorkshire for me) but it will cost over five times more. It won’t include a pint either. It’s horses for courses and I intend to have another one in spoons later this week. Highlight is the cranberry gravy, gives it a good edge washed down with punk IPA, cheers 🍾🥳

The spoons dinner….. hmm processed turkey, o.k for a sandwich not a dinner like that, no sprouts or Yorkshire pudding! 😱 I mean like you say Wetherspoons has its place, if I was starving and fancied some unlimited coffee/tea didn’t have many other options I would probably go, but like you say, paying a bit more and getting a lot better seems like the better choice! Score 6 for me. I think Christmas dinner is whatever you want it to be, I think it’s actually making extra special gravy that really makes the dinner! 🥰😆

Absolutely not should a yorkshre pudding be on a Christmas dinner. The three items that have to be there to stop t being a normal roast are cranberry sauce, sprouts, and pgs in blankets. And none of those things should be on a standard roast.

Pint of Ruddles Best for £1.77, wowsers, almost takes me back to the 80’s when growing up in Uttoxeter and I could go out for a night with a fiver, have five pints and still have change for chips, saveloy and curry sauce on the way home! Meal looks a bit like one of those frozen dinners from the supermarket. “You sunk my battleship” “Action Man, with gripping hands and Eagle Eyes”
