Why do you always talk about first class? You realise there’s business class right? The difference between economy and business is huge. The difference between business and first isn’t much. I often fly business class and if you choose the right dates/times it’s not as expensive as you think. A few years ago I flew from London to Las Vegas on Christmas Day for £1000 return - a bargain. And as a BA frequent flyer they upgraded me to first on the way there for free. You should try it. You’re a busy guy and in business class you can work on the flight or get some zzz so you’re ready to work when you land. As a self employed guy you can also offset the fare against your tax bill!

Hi Lee, firstly the Macmaster needs to go first class! I agree with you about American Airlines. We were flying from Edinburgh to NYC with BA and they cancelled our flight due to a storm on the American side and we were rebooked with American. The cabin crew were all silver surfers and bloody rude. I asked one lady for new earphones as mine were broken and I got a "I'll try but I'm really busy" and a male crew member asked me what I'd like to drink and I asked for a Bud Lite and he said "you'll be bloody lucky"! The trouble with economy is most main airlines are very similar. I'd love to see some reviews of Business Class and Premium Economy as well as normal economy. I feel the airlines vary more in the premium cabins and I'd love to hear your thoughts on whether the upgrades are worth it or not. Can rely on you to say it how it is!

Went on the Dreamliner from Glasgow to Orlando a couple of years after it launched, on a Thomas Cook package, and paid about £200 extra to sit 'up front '. There were less than 20 seats in a private cabin with dedicated staff. Served champagne whilst the plane was boarding. Huge seats, fantastic food and drink and top-notch service throughout. Not first/business class or posh by any means but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I have to say kudos to Delta Airways.Last year I missed my connecting flight from JFK to las Vegas.I was flying from Edinburgh to JFK,then to las Vegas for my sister's wedding.Once I got to JFK from Edinburgh.The main problem wasn't customs and passport control,but that afternoon security was terrible and took longer than customs and passport control.People were freaking out about missing their flight and some of the security staff were rude and unprofessional. Anyway by the time I got through and ran my way to my flight I had just missed the last Vegas flight by a few minutes.I went straight to the Delta airlines desk and explained to them.They put me on a later flight with no charge, couldn't fault them.Thankyou Delta Airlines.

I've never missed a flight, but I have missed an airport .. I'll explain. I was flying from Capetown to Port Elizabeth, and the plane continued from there to Durban, however I was asleep when the plane landed in PE, they hadn't sold that seat for the leg from there to Durban so nobody woke me up. So, I landed in Durban not even realizing that's where I was and of course my bag didn't turn up on the carousel, so I went to the lost baggage counter and eventually they came back and said your bag is in PE Sir, so I said yes, that's where I am, so where's my bag? .. no Sir, you're in Durban. They didn't charge me for the PE -> Durban leg seeing as they hadn't sold that seat anyway, but I had to buy a ticket back to PE where I was reunited with my bag.

AA is BA's partner in the US it has taken over a number of BA routes that BA can't operate due to aircraft shortage which is down to the issues with some RR Trent engines. Whether that's the issue in this case? Don't know

Yeah, BA is cutting service across the board, including NYC (JFK). BA pulled their A380 from DFW and then soon after announced they were pulling Dallas altogether in March, albeit a temporary move. BA is having equipment issues, particularly with the engines.

I flew from JFK to LHR on the 1st Dec with VA, my flight departed at 08.20 and I landed around 19.30. I'm from Yorkshire so I booked a cheap Travelodge for the night before getting the Train back to Leeds the next day. I have done night flights from Miami to Heathrow numerous times over the years, though I can't sleep in Economy or Premium, Upper Class however on a night flight is a treat! My personal preference is, if I can get a daytime flight, I'd happily fly back in economy and save money by not booking an Upper Class suite. That being said, Upper Class is an absolute treat!

Actually coming back from Texas last year. We came back on AA and it was better than BA. We went out on a noisy uncomfortable grubby very old BA Boeing plane. Came back on a new Airbus . Comfy quieter and staff were lovely. Every time we've used BA it's been the same. If you get the chance try Singapore A/L they're the best we've tried. We went to Oz via a few days in Singapore, and they were superb .

“How do you miss a flight?” - remember a lot of people have flight connections and aren’t necessarily initiating their trip at JFK. I missed my connection at Montreal a few months ago and had to be rerouted. I also missed 2 flights this year, one because the gate closed early (a transatlantic flight from Boston) and also a flight from Vienna to London. Both of those I had to pay to get a different way home. I’ve also ‘nearly’ missed quite a few flights this year, including one from LAX to London when I was with a friend. They called our names over the tannoy. I also booked a flight earlier this year from Luton to Tirana which I got very cheap (around £10) and purposely missed it, I just wanted to spend a free day at the airport lounges. Plus all the flights back from Tirana cost £100s.

You could have spoken to BA and refused what they gave, they will always offer the emptiest aircraft as they have 14 flights a day with the AA flights included. They could have put you on an alternate BA operation as they do have 8 flights a day. They will always try to reposition you on a AA flight first from JFK though. BA should never have given up Terminal 7. It was their own. If you can afford it First class is a very nice option but it is rapidly disappearing as airlines abandon it for Business class.

Yes. Always best to book both flight legs with the same airline, where possible. That way, if your first leg is delayed and you miss the connection, the airline will put you on the next available flight. You might get some compensation as well.

Hello Lee, I wonder why BA canx this JFK-LHR flight ? Could be commercial reasons or aircraft shortage. You may know that BA and VS are having to cancel a few flights and routes because of RR engine problems with their 787s. Daylight flights US to UK are a luxury because, unless you can stay with friends/relatives, travellers usually end up paying for hotel accommodation. Back in 1970 I took one of BA's VC-10s JFK-LHR on a daylight flight ...it was a civilised experience. But since then the number of day time flights has barely increased whereas the volume of overnight flights has mushroomed.

AA is in a sad state for sure. A once great American brand is actually no more. After 9/11 AA was the only American carrier to NOT file bankruptcy. I worked for AA from '06 to '13. Shortly after I left the pressures of labor, pensions etc. that the other carriers avoided due to bankruptcy years earlier along with fuel prices in the Obama years was the straw that broke the camel's back. AA was bankrupt and gobbled up by the horrible US Airways. The legacy American Airlines was gone except for the name. You've flown on USAirways. It IS sad.

Thank you for all your travel videos this year. I definitely would fly during the day and get into LHR in the evening. All airlines with 777 with 3-4-3 seating are uncomfortable. We had the same thing Lee! Was due to fly back from JFK with BA on 23rd Dec last year, and our flight got cancelled, and rescheduled to American. We completely lost our booked seats, and had to pay for new seats on the American app, as they dont transfer it across. Absolute joke! The seat cost with BA was automatically refunded, but it was still a pain to have to rebook it all!

Hi Lee, yes, I have missed many flights. All due to connections: the first flight is delayed and there is no way to make the connection. On the positive side, I have had a flight delayed by 30 minutes specifically for me for this reason, with very friendly airport support telling me I didn't have to run although I did. It's easy to be on time if you don't have connections that are out of your control.
