This is my annual collection of my favorite great white shark moments I filmed with my drone over the course of this year. A two part installment this year, this part focuses on human-shark encounters and shark-sting ray encounters. All captured from above in 4K.

It's the location that's catching your bias. As the channel has said he's never seen any white shark, eat anything in this location. They go straight up to a known food source,stingrays, in this area and still won't feed.. If they're actively foraging, however, they'll actively hunt, stalk and kill humans.

They don't actively hunt, stalk out attack humans as a food source. We are not on the menu for any shark. Sharks don't like eating humans. Humans do not have enough body fat to be attractive as food to sharks. Most shark "attacks" really from sharks taking a bite to determine whether or not we are edible. Unfortunately, many of these bites can be fatal. There are generally less that 100 shark "attacks" power year WORLD WIDE. Play the lotto.. Your chances are better than getting but by a shark. I have had nightmares throughout my life of the ocean and sharks, and it has produced what i now consider to be an unreasonable fear of both. Somehow watching your videos has brought me comfort and greatly needed perspective. I sincerely thank you for that. a small story... I visitied Los Angeles maybe ten years back. I stood on the beach as waves would come close to me. One wave came to close, and i stepped back, out of fear. I did not touch the water. That was it. That short moment has became one of the greatest regrets of my life. I was there, face to face with the ocean, and i did not touch it. again, out of fear. But youre videos have made me feel like i need to go back, and not only touch the ocean, but jump in. i cant thank you enough. be well.

I am not saying that I would intentionally go again, but their behavior taught me - I am pretty sure they are not aggressive towards humans under normal conditions. They are everywhere in the ocean, it's their environment, and we are the "intruders" there, not them. We should behave more respectfully and mainly silently.

10:00 is a shark 'coughing'. :D Thank you so much for this. Since I can remember I love watching fish from above, no idea why. I can watch this all day long. This type of drone footage really opened this up for me. Also, I've been reading about sharks since I was like 8, so about 50 years ago now. 😂

Thank you for some great footage and intelligent narration! This is truly rare as most other similar channels do not focus on the truth of how these animals behave. I was lucky enough to swim in water‘s off La Jolla and also off Kauai and encounter sharks. They were never aggressive towards me, in fact they were quite scared and bolted any time I attempted to approach.

You get by far, the most amazing footage in my opinion. I'm terrified of the oceans and great whites in particular but the footage you upload kinda shows me it's a kind of irrational fear in ways. The fact that they come that close to humans and turn away without so much as a sniff shows they aren't all crazed killers with a want for human flesh. Love this channel 💯💯💯

maybe the odds can calm your nerves, too! sharks attack around 72 people annually, 10 of whom die from their injuries. that's not in the US...that's WORLDWIDE! considering the amount of people who swim in the ocean and visit beaches daily around the globe, your chances of being attacked by a shark are astronomically low. Compare the deaths by sharks (10/year) to these animals (number/year): Mosquitoes: 750K Snakes: 100k Dogs: 35k Snails: 20k (that's right, snails kill 2000x as many people per year as sharks) Crocs: 1k Hippos: 500 Elephants: 500 Lions: 22 Wolves: 10

@@baphometic8767 Still seems like incorrect risk assessment to me - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWaZmZaNmqath9E. They should have more specific data. I'll never go in the ocean recreationally, but I understand that surfing/swimming is integral for some people's health.

Fascinating! I would never have thought there would be so many shark encounters, with the sharks showing such indifference. It seems really strange. Do you think they have become innured to the presence of swimmers or surfers? Are they giving off a different scent in the water, to the shark's normal food? The scenes of the Sharks in close proximity to Rays without attacking them would seem to indicate they only hunt or attack when hungry. So many unanswered questions with this footage. It does seem as though you have found a great way to study shark interactions in safety. Great footage, thanks for uploading.

On one hand people say "you're more likely to die in a car crash than by a shark attack" Often the counter response is "yea but you are in cars every day, you very rarely encounter sharks" This footage really is incredible, and shows how often (and how many) people actually do encounter sharks, and seemingly without even being aware of it. It really highlights how complex these animals and their behaviors are, and how they're not simple robots that only exist to feed. The only reason we don't know more about them than what we do, is because they're so difficult to observe both in terms of quantity and quality. Yet your footage appears to do a great deal of both. Absolutely loved it. Can't wait to see more from you.
@Real_MisterSir

@Jon Hesson The point is not really to say sharks are less dangerous than cars - or equally dangerous. It's simply to note that all the stereotypes are based in media-fueled fear, not actual logic and education. The vastly most important thing to understand in order to avoid potential attacks, is to know how to behave around sharks, and understand their typical behavior and patterns too. Behavioral patterns are so important with any animal. But every media outlet typically depict them as something they are not - even "credible" sources like NatGeo, which despite being generally quite objective, still benefit massively from fear-mongering aspect of "sharkphobia". The potential danger around sharks is very real, but the degree of that danger, and the degree to which we can (and often unknowingly do) avoid it is even bigger.

Hey man. I’m born and raised out here in So Cal. What beaches are you filming that are that clear? I’ve filmed most beaches around here from above like that and the water is a lot darker than that and there aren’t many kelp forests in California anymore. Is it in the San Diego area or Catalina area?

Nothing is learned through these videos anymore than if I showed you a video of a serial killer taking a dump. To deduce these sharks are harmless because they are not eating people 24/7 is a triumph of well cultivated stupidity over common sense.

Love this video! I've seen hundreds of sharks over the past 6 years while paddle boarding North San Diego County. Have gotten used to the fact that they're always around and thru personal observation and videos like yours, have grown to love & respect these wonderful animals. I'm hoping you'll be lucky enough to capture one breaching - as it's pretty cool to see a 400+ lb fish in the air! Or when a sea lion turns the tables & chases after them (seen a few times). Keep up the great work! You ARE changing the narrative.
