I doubt they have never attacked humans, but the only humans who have likely been attacked are hunters/fisherman that live in very remote areas. An Inuit man goes out on his kayak, a hungry and desperate Orca decides to take him, and his village just assumes he got lost at sea or died from rough waves. It also helps that they generally live in areas where humans can't swim due to water temperature so Orcas rarely meet humans in a vulnerable environment. If Orcas lived in tropical waters attacks would likely be much more common.

The last one is so sad. That whale is Luna, and she was abandoned by her pod in the Puget Sound. She was so lonely that she would seek out human interaction. Everyone was told to stay away from her because if she got too comfortable with humans it would lead to her own harm, but of course who can resist an adorable Orca that wants to be friends. Luna was most likely killed by a crew onboard a fishing boat, he spent a lot of time around people and boats and had no wounds from outboard motors. He was a smart animal and the fishermen were being affected by Luna’s presence and therefore probably killed him to stop their livings being affected. Bastards.

I went diving with orca whales before, they are actually really calm if you know how to behave yourself in their presence, you need to filter out any fear and stress and just go for it, they treat you like another one of themselves(just a smaller version), I seen orcas with babies as well, those are a bit more protective, they would nudge you a bit to tell you, stay away, so I kept my distance. @lynnkayee1015Ай бұрын
It might be a language. There is a video on YT called Corky hears her family from 93. Corky was taken from her family and sent to Sea World, many, many, many years later, scientists who still tracked her pod (which many of her family members were living) recorded their vocalizations and brought them to play for her. All the orcas reacted, but Corky had the strongest reaction. Of course, that COULD be us just putting that on them, possibly seeing what isn't there, but what we do know makes it seem more likely than not that she did recognize them. We know pods have different almost "accents" and ways of communication. It makes you wonder.

Cat Nini That last orca was Luna, and I believe that the person interacting with him was one of the villagers who lived near the bay Luna lived in, and he interacted with Luna regularly. He may be one of the indigenous people, and they have great respect for Orca, and I think they believe they are ancestors... if not that, then maybe they hold them sacred for some other reason, but either way, and whether or not that guy is even one of the indigenous people, he’s interacting with a whale that lost its family/pod, and basically was adopted by the people of that village/bay (or Luna adopted them as family). If you don’t know what I’m talking about at all, there’s a documentary on Luna you can easily find on KZbin, which I recommend. The video where the orcas are having fun chasing the boat is incredible. You truly realize the power of this animal, which weighs several tons-between 3 and 7 tons for the large males. For comparison, a male African elephant can weigh up to 6 tons. Here we have orcas that can travel long distances at speeds exceeding 56 km/h. They are a marvel of nature, and it’s such a joy to see them free like this, playing.

The last clip is an orca named Luna who lived in Nootka! The locals knew him and would often play with him and chat to him as he was a lonely whale without a pod. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that the orca with the stick is Luna.. Luna was an orphan that lived in the BC area and that man was very “close” with him.. he somehow got separated from his pod when he was young and never reunited with them.. he was very lonely and became close with certain humans in that area.. researchers tried to reunite him with his family and the Canadian government tried to sell him to Sea World.. it was an epic showdown when they tried to trick him into a net.. First Nations came around in a war canoe and were able to get him out of the net and away from them.. Ryan Reynolds is from BC and him and Blake Lively produced a documentary on him.. he ended up getting caught up in a boat motor and died.. Heartbreaking story, but worth a watch if you’re interested in those kinds of stories
