Personally I like the idea of going with something more akin to a redemption story with them maybe the reason that Pentex couldn't control the Anurana was the influence of a benign spirit, possibly as a replacement for the lost Grondr, but their corruption means that they can't quite understand what is going on. It opens an adventure with the players having to be teachers rather just warriors.

So, Pentex has made a few Mockery Breeds including: 1. War Wolves (similar to Garou) 2. Anurana (Were-Frogs) 3. Samsa (Were-Cockroaches) 4. Yeren (Were-Apes) Among others!

Well, Pentex again created something that they cannot control and now it hurts everyone and eats their workers. I am not surprised. In general, as for me, they are quite cute fools, if you do not take into account the fact that they are still allies of the Wyrm. But your ideas about them sound very interesting. It would be nice to give them some uniqueness from other Mockery Breeds.

I can see these as either a long term thing or a small colony that is tolerated by the Fera, in a truce for information on pentex facilities ... eg when a large shipment comes in ... in exchange the Garou get to put some form of taint spreading blocker around the area

I’m somewhat curious what would happen if a mockery breed becomes a vampire I know regular abominations either die or go insane but since mockery breeds don’t really have a connection to the umbra I think the ones that do survive probably won’t end up batshit crazy like the changing breeds tend to do

I wrote but never ran a game that ultimately was about Anurana. The final act was going to be a Gurhal literally giving their life for one Anurana (who comes and goes in the story, but essentially wants to be one of Gaia's children) to be cleansed of corruption and kind of become a true member of the changing breeds. I hadn't figured out the conclusion. Maybe they're taken into [the Amazon] to just be taken care of, or initiated into this totally alien world, as the spirits take notice totally overwhelming this individual suddenly able to hear their whispers. Maybe this drives them insane and re-corrupts them very quickly. The whole point is that one cleansed Anurana even if totally successful is a bit of a deadend, but it shows precedent for a way to redeem them (the kind of embodiment of corruption as a breed) as a whole even if the cleansing lasts only a day or an hour. Bit on the nose, so it never really saw the light of day. I like it still, though. Maybe I'll work on it again.

Personally, I have the Anurana derive from the *hundreds* of would-be Murdaucha that always die in the ocean. Pentex has millions of dollars, thousands of employees, a hundreds of those are Fomori, maybe a hundred of them can breathe underwater. Suddenly, the Children of Dagon no longer have to watch their hundreds of children drown to death, and they get more warm bodies in which to fill with their eggs. Any merfolk young that are snatched from their mothers are also free game, yet that’s no less of a gamble for obvious reasons. This is, again, a me-thing but I absolutely love crossing the kinds into horrible things that exist only to be quashed by the powers that be. I use the Murdaucha for the Anurana just because this opens up opportunities for variety in what “werefrog” means. Frogs come in more than just the standard bull variety. There’s the Wolverine Frog, the Flying Frog, the Glass Frog, and sometimes frogs can be born defective in their environment and not finish maturing; this opens up a myriad of options for visual besides the frogs looking stupid. They come off as the Deep Ones from Shadow Over Innsmouth, and their nature as being innately Thallain means they’re not gonna obey a higher power in a direct manner. There will be variety, there will be animal cunning, and ohohoho is there much to be found with the children of Dagon for opportunities.

I would say that these creatures ae new, unstable and ultimately unfinished. Outside of pentexes control they will be subject to further mutation, adaptation, radiation as they become something whole and wholy new. That perhapse a crossbreeding of them and their fomori cousins might be the spark they need to change into something that is no longer a mere mockary but a thing in its own right. I would say that their resistance to any form of control or manipluation is an immense blessing. That perhapse they have sprits willing to deals with them but those sprits can not overcome the Anuranas native resistance and for their part the anurana do no know how to make contact nor has the thought occured to them. In future I can see at least two distinct kinds, a big tough cane toad more similar to the existing kind and a lithe, acrobatic tree frog varient. I can also see them living in polution and coruption, absorbing it to fuel toxic abilities and magics but also purefying the land by taking in and resisiting the taint and devoiring the corupt and the corupting. I also see a shadow over innsmuth ibe going on for their future kinsfolk; because calling their war form Dagon is a little too on the nose. They also shouldnt have teeth, because frogs do not have teeth. The question becomes do they have tadpoles or do they have children? If their changing abilities come in early do they turn into frogs or tadpoles? Or am I reading far to much into the concept.

Anurana sounds great for Npc characters who got life wrong and ugly but who still want to be rigth and even find upon death that they do have that they do have a connection to Gaia
