Its sucks to be a Samsa .In Were wolf the forsaken becoming werecocroach is also terrible fate. they are called Nidmuzug there .mening unclean one in werewolf language. they are called this not becouse reason .if human eats food or drink water and nidmuzug is nearby he will turn into another one. and what wrong with this he have 2 forms :one is swarm of cocroaches and another is gigantic cocroach with some human features. (im guess than in theory this can be hidden by some magic or magical item but contamination will not dissapear)its a hard insect life.and they even dont have regeneration.

Back at the end of Revised/the old line in the early aughts when the Mockeries were coming around Ananasa was one of the major reasons the Samsa failed IIRC. In the Ananasi Breedbook there is mention of the insect changers that the spiders killed before the Dragons/Mokole noticed they were becoming a problem (and because they were DELICIOUS) and Ananasa saw the Samsa as a return to the eldest of enemies so she had some Hatar do what they wanted the Samsa for: Sneak in in Crawlerling form and fuck everything up. In the last Werewolf campaign I played in the Samsa were a big part actually. I was a Wendigo Lupus Galliard who wanted to collect all the stories about shapeshifters she could and eventually got a bit obsessive about Fera and finding out that the Garou did to the Fera what the European Garou did to the Wendigo pretty much. She, her Bone Gnawer, Black Fury, and Glass Walker pack ended up helping a grand deal of Fera including some ancient hibernating Gurahl and ended up calling in a Life Boon to an elder bear to have the Gurahl (at least one tribe) bring the Samsa under their wing to heal them of the Pentex impurities. All my homies say fuck the Yeren though.

I'm making a homebrew for Gaian Samsa. Imagine Swarmborn Samsa, which within a few years would number quite a bit considering insect life cycles. In my homebrew, I think I might have them 'replace' the Grondr. Cockroaches digestive systems are exceedingly hardy, and they share a scavanger/forager hunting style, sorta like Pigs. Being able to devour Wyrm Corruption without damage would be a great tool for Gaia. I can only imagine the Spidershifters would HATE THEM, considering the Insect Wars.

Samsa are perhaps the most tragic breed ever created by the Pentex, but at the same time my favorite among them. First of all, I like their insectoid aesthetics, for some it is scary or nasty, but personally I have always liked all sorts of bugs. Besides, when I think about them, I begin to remember not only the novel "The Metamorphosis" by Kafka, but also the films "Mimic" (1997) and "The Fly" (1986), I think it's obvious why. In general, it seems to me that reducing them to unambiguous freaks would be a waste of their potential. I see them, first of all, as creatures suffering from gradually progressive insanity, who want to preserve what is healthy and human that is still in them and, perhaps, are trying to find their place in this world. I believe that in the future, they will make excellent servants of Gaia due to their ability to withstand radiation and toxins, thereby giving them the opportunity to confront the Wyrm or spy on his servants in his own territories. In addition, it would be interesting to see in them the direct opposite of the Black Spiral Dancers, who flew from Gaia to Wyrm. Or they could, thanks to the help of the Cockroach Totem, completely go into the service of the Weaver. Simply put, there are many interesting ways to use them. And yes, thanks for making a video about my favorite Mockery Breed.

When I started looking into them, i can see why they are appealing. Very tragic but you could go either way with them, make them evolve to powerful weaver minions or bring them to Gaia in a redemption arc

Even tho I'm not a fan of the World of Darkness and more of a Starfinder fan, I would like to hear more of the different breeds, if Mockery breeds are playable and also maybe a series on the 20th Anniversary stuff on VtM, the opposite of WtA.

The Samsa story is obvious.. A test subject with the mental acumen and psychology to withstand the exposure to paranormal stimulus, possible being prepared by various means before hand, and its able to successfully communicate with Cockroach spirit. One can add layers of Cockroach manipulating the situation so this specific test subject is targeted, knowing the potential end results. Now whether the Samsa is Wyrm tainted & loyal, or willing to help their people become warriors of Gaia is up to the players. This is a great concept is the sense that they'd be terrifying monstrosities to humanity who'd end being mentally broken and timid, cause they're aware of greater monsters lurking in the darkness. If they ever made a movie based on this lore (Hollywood style) the comic relief character would come from a Samsa voice by Pete Davidson, with a Taika/Gunn approach. Not saying it would be good, but it would be what it is.

I wish I found videos like these when I started playing 10 years ago. There's so much content but I just don't have the patience or time to sit and read for hours. These videos give me enough knowledge to know whether or not it's a topic I want to consider for one of my games and read up on, and presented in less than 15 minutes. I know where the term "Ungeziefer" comes from, and sure they probably did it because of the Kafka reference, just like the name Samsa, but using "Ungeziefer" for a horrifying cockroach hybrid form is really dumb, that word is so harmless in German that it doesn´t even reach the level of "pest". They should at least call it "Ungeheuer".

@@sygyzy0933 Fomori are excellent antagonists and can fit perfectly in ANY World of Darkness games. You could actually play as a Fomori as well, but it's not exactly easy. You're essentially a ticking time-bomb destined for destruction, but nothing wrong with taking out some Pentex executives along the way. Almost like a dark(VERY dark) take on the X-Men.

In the VTM game I’m running, a Visionary Imbued Hunter that my players’ coterie failed to kill (“guy in the chair” style techie by name of Jordan Fairwell), ended up undergoing an experiment to become a Samsa Or, at least, something that resembles a Samsa. In my World of Darkness, basically what happened was, FIRSTLIGHT successfully acquired documents on the Samsa experiments via an undercover contact at Pentex, and after rescuing an (extremely injured, effectively permanently paralyzed) hunter, they experimented on her to see if they could replicate and/or improve on the original Samsa design. They pretty much failed. She’s still completely paralyzed in homid form (experiencing no healing effects), and while she is mobile and terrifying powerful in ungeziefer form, it’s intensely painful for her the whole time. Still, if the coterie find out about her and break into that hospital room, they’re in for a rude awakening. (P.S. I’m sure *something* about this conflicts with how something is supposed to work, but it’s my campaign and my world of darkness soooo /shrug)

Shame the project was abandoned. It was a solid idea. Needs work, but concept is solid. And there are the spider-fellows who would serve as ground for reverse-engineering. Would make sense for them to improve eventually, specially if they do get adopted by the Weaver. This sister is all about technology, improve things. And is interesting see someone reversing the play of Wyrm and "corrupting" a Wyrm toy for its own purposes. "Two can play that game" style. Fix a few bugs and you get a nice option for players. Imagine your friends asking you: "Can I be a were cockroach?".

In my games I would likely make the Samsa possible allies that you can save and redeem. With a Yeren possibly secretly helping the players with this just so that Project Lycan can be shut down so that no more mockery breeds will be created except his own.

Imagine a story where the Wyrm succeeds, it corrupts the wyld and a large percentage of the other changing breeds. Humanity is forcerd to relinquish control, The vampires are all but destroyed, The tcimize are the only ones left in control because they align with the evil forces and the nosferatu, the samsa and the bone gnawers are the only ones left trying to wrestle control back from the Wyrms forces.
