Consistency is what really matters when you do Math..Thank you for this video!!!

A very good friend who made a deep "copernical" change in his life and became extremely succesful, told me, just yesterday, the following: "motivation is not above discipline. The earlier is often the result of the latter". Routines to return to the minimal basics are great tools to declutter. It is about who you are, where you want to go and get working in the basics. These talks are very necessary, thank you.

The great challenge of modernity is maintaining focus in a world of distractions. Once this obstacle is overcome, discipline flows like a river. And the answer is within. Meditation is a path. Stay aware. Stay yourself. Be filled with self-knowledge.

Excellent video. I would like to offer a different approach to motivation, and not use it to go as fast as you can for as long as the motivation lasts, but use it to solidify your discipline, through habits. The daily habits are what we can use to carry us through the harder, less motivated days.

I’m studying math with the open university in the UK. I have motivation because I’m addicted to gaining knowledge and I’m lucky to have clear head space. When I go to sleep I wonder what I will learn tomorrow. My working routine is to set a timer at 45 mins and when it’s up have a break for 10 mins. Listening to a Brandenburg Concerto by J S Bach especially one played by the Netherlands Bach Society gives me new energy. I rarely do more than 4 sessions a day. Obey your body. If it’s telling you to down tools take a couple of hours. I know I’m luckier than most. Hope it helps.

I'm thankful I found math sorcerer. High quality, lots of resources and most importantly, a POSITIVE mindset! 👍👍 The admonition to do at LEAST one calculus problem is reminiscent of Jordan Peterson saying "make up your bed". I'm neutral on Peterson because I'm not well acquainted with him. But I've seen snippets and compilations of his lectures and that one piece of advice of his really rings true. It really does start with "getting off the X" "Make your bed" "Do one calculus problem" Thanks Math Sorcerer!

As an engineering student, I would like to say that learning one subject for interest is different than learning for taking exams. When we learn for exams, we have only one to pass or to get high grades. And in my opinion it puts a lot of stress on students. Because consider that there are two types of students. One is slow learner who put a lot of efforts to solve one problem and fast learner who can solve that problem within 1 hour. So eventually slow learner will either get low grade or fail but fast learner will pass or get high grade. Overall, what I want to say that learning process is the part of the character and if you are slow learner and get low grades it doesn't mean you are not smart enough. It's just your nature and you have to be aware of it. Just learn until you know every piece of information.

Regarding the concept of decluttering the mind. There are some tools which can help an individual but he/she needs to estimate what are the external waves of info which can possibly lead to cluttering and distraction and cut those with a surgical precision. The appropriate measurement of mind clutter is the level of brain fog. In my case, it was mindless scrolling on youtube and social networks, watching news about ukraine war, current political situation in my country, etc. Then I have decided only to watch or read content which can be regarded as constructive. It took a bit of discipline also, I was tempted to watch something about Ukraine for example, but I've noticted this urge, like an addiction and decided not to. If I need some sort of relaxation, I would preform meditation, yoga, physical exercise or something other. The powerfull methods which also helped me to clear brain is no fap and semen retention (this one for males), cold showers are great too!

Try meditation, first start by breathing in and out through your nose , then notice the feeling in your chest and focus on that , unwanted thoughts might appear let them pass but don't fixate on them and continue with the meditation, to be even more mindful start focusing on parts of your body and move your focus gradually from one part to another, in my opinion this helps with clearing your head and being present

When I try to learn using their methods I become confused. I always try finding simpler ways to solve equations for myself, but when I follow their solution it becomes more difficult for me. Like 2x + 5 = 11. They'll say subtract 5 from both sides, but why? You can subtract 5 from just 11 to find 6 and divide 6 by 2 to find x=3 The confusion for me is when I'm meant to follow the way they solve VS ways I solve. Same with problems like 3y−7=14 same solution but you add instead of subtract, but I solve using the same solution of adding 7 to 14 = 21/3 = 7 so y = 7.

Would it be possible for you to make a video going deeper into #3? In the age of technology, as silly as it sounds, its hard (especially for genz) to balance phones and school work. Even though the age old solution is to just put the phone down, it’s just hard.
@21ruevictorhugo Жыл бұрын
You are the one who makes the choice to think that your phone is more important than what you want to do with your life. Just turn it off! Turn it off for one hour. Your friends will call you back if it’s important. Some phones have settings for emergency calls. Remember, it’s your choice.

From my point of view, zoomers appear to be addicted to phones and computers. When I go to the university library, 99 to 100% of the students sitting in there have a laptop, phone, or tablet in front of them. To me, that is VERY weird. When I’m there, I sit at a desk or a table with a math book (a real one made of paper), a notebook (a real one made of paper), and a pencil, and I study math. My laptop is at home; my phone is either at home or set on airplane mode inside my bag where I don’t see it or touch it. I know that I think much better-more clearly, more deeply, with more focus-when there is no kind of electronic screen in front of me. I don’t believe that zoomers suddenly have a mutation that makes them different, but they’ve been brought up in a very digital, online culture. But you don’t have to do the same thing that your peers do. You can make changes and learn new habits.

So whenever you want to change your habits in life, in your case stopping/ reducing phone time. You need to either increase roadblocks or decrease depending on if you want to add or subtract that habit from your life. Another this to do is to have some form of accountability to removing/ adding a habit. To explain with an example if you want to quit your phone make it harder to use it. For instance get an alarm clock instead of using your phone as it stops you from using it first thing in the morning. Another thing could be to turn it off whenever you have done something important with it e.g. talking to friends/ family. The constant need to boot up your phone will make it more annoying to use. You can lock it up in a draw when you know you will not need it anytime soon once again adding roadblocks. You can do this with any habit you wish to remove and the reverse for any you want to add. Accountability could be friends, family or as I do a simple excel spreadsheet I printed out every morning I put todays date on it and I tick off the things on my list when I am done e.g. I am currently doing the gym every other day so on a gym day if I went I simply tick it. This way when the spreadsheet is done I check to see how consistent I truly was and assess if I need to change anything. The most important thing though is to never beat yourself up when you slip up. You already made the mistake of the slip up there is no need to punish yourself more. Simply accept you slipped up today and make sure tomorrow you don't. Hope this helps you. Have a good day.

Hi!!! Great channel! Im studying physics at UBA in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sometimes I feel that math exams are complicated but I don't know if they really are compared to other universities. What would be great and an idea for the channel is that if we can submit exams and you can solve them in video or tell if this is or not difficult. Thanks and keep up with the great content to help us be better at math everyday ❤

My advice is if you are not motivated at least when you are driving open a playlist on KZbin and just watch a few minutes video of a math source solving a problem related to your course so you can memorize the steps of solving at least

Any tips on a subject that a "hobbyist" could take up and revolutionize Einstein-pattent-clerk-style? Obviously theoretical physics is out, bc nowadays you gotta be an algebraic topologist just to get your toes wet. But can you think of any subject just itchin' for a Eureka Moment that a motivated layman with a math BA and plenty of free time might be able to supply?
