When I was young, I hated this program. I thought it was the most boring program to exist, right up there with blue peter, songs of praise , highway and crown court. I'm 47 now and I don't know what happened, I love the program. And I don't know why but this brings a tear to my eye.
@mikeshirleyforever10 ай бұрын
Your comment really struck a chord with me as I didn't value the show in my childhood either. I always loved the theme tune as it reminded me of happier, simpler times with my family on a Sunday; sunnier weather and just enjoying what I had at the time. But as I have gotten older, I appreciated the charm and humour of this show and it's many changes with the principle cast. But they still had the Roy Clarke touch to them. It was also at a time when British comedy was much more funnier and risky unlike anything the BBC is churning out today. Our taste changes as we grow old and I absolutely treasure this show now.

I have the same memories of my Granny Annie who lived with my Dad( her son) Mum and sister untill she died in her nineties. Boy your comment and this video brings back happy memories of the 1980s. I STLL miss her 😢😢👵. You talked about your Grandad watching it religious well our family are Christians and we laughed at this great family friendly comedy on SUNDAY nights. Over here in Northern Ireland some Christians think that watching a TV on Sundays is sinful but that's another story and besides they haven't laughed at the hilarious absurd characters and situations of Last Of The Summer Wine eg who trys to have an extra maritial affair like Howard does and everybody would realise it if he just kept his mouth shout. Also the Last Of The Summer Wine actresses Dame Thora Hird and Kathy Staff were Christians and regularly attended church. Who says Christians can't have a laugh?😂🙏 I'm glad that this reminds you of your Grandad, God bless.🙏

Certainly my life as a young boy/man was much fuller and happier, which is when I had much less. Funny, it can take a life's journey to discover that all you really ever needed or wanted was right in front of our eyes. Sorry for your loss. This theme also takes me back to better times and I would go back there and never leave. The reality is we have to make the best of what we are faced with at the time. Both my parents died over 20 years ago and I find myself using You Tube as a time machine to revisit places that I remember growing up as a child. Holidays and TV programs we would sit and watch together. Life goes on as they say, and you will look back and laugh again, probably at something you remember your dad saying. Take care, keep safe, God bless.
