I know that many of us feel terrible because we are so behind in our scrapbooking, but watching your videos it just dawned on me that maybe we should not rush into making albums as soon as the calendar year is over. Organize your photos and keep track of events, but let time pass and take a bird's eye view of our family and our children's history. I know that for me, my son started swim team with a bang but it only lasted a few years. Now looking back, making a huge album about an activity that only lasted three years would not have been the best choice.

I love your idea of having sections in their albums. My kids don't want a huge number of albums for their children. Now I can add multiple years on a layout. School, Christmas, sports etc. and the album will be very organized! Thank you.

Awesome! I can’t wait to do it too! It will be fun!😁

In the digital world and especially if, like you say, you are one who takes a million photos of everybody, you MUST delete all the ones that you’re never going to scrapbook. I was that Mom and I’m that grandma. Especially at school events I will at the end of the season or end of school year, I contact parents who are interested (not all are) and I get their kids photos to them in digital form. I ask for a flash drive to put them on. It’s up to them as to what they do with them and I delete them from my computer. I have six grandsons so I still have lots of photos to organize and scrapbook. Almost all of my scrapbooking is done digitally now using Historian for photo organization and Artisan to create the albums/books/ page prints. This software is available at Forever.com. I am and have been a Creative Memories advisor and user since 1998 so I’ve used powersort boxes, power layouts, and all the products you talk about in your videos. So many of your tips can also carry over to digital scrapbooking too. My goal, like you, is to get those photos off the computer and into your life and the lives of your loved ones.

It may be an investment of time now but it is definitely setting myself up for success. I have been floundering trying to decide what to scrap for about 5 years. By not being organized I feel I have missed out on some really great stories about our family. Can't wait to complete the organization in order to get those stories in an album.

I am totally with you Charlene! We can do this together ❤️

I love the idea of seeing the passage of time in one layout. But my kids are still young and I can’t really have that. Thinking.....

I get that. Yes it’s more of a perspective look. For those of us with way too many photos. You get the joy of capturing their growing years now😊 how wonderful!

You are in the perfect place actually for this process because you can set it all up now how you are going to move forward. I'm here now with my oldest turning 21 this year and I never made any of my kids separate albums. I've always incorporated everything in our family albums. I'm so far behind with those, even the thought of starting individual kid albums - school or theme "all about" is a gargantuan undertaking that I'm not sure I could handle. I'm sad about that honestly. I'm sure they would love to be able to have their own albums to show their spouses and kids someday. Sigh...

@@wendyengland2530 What about doing a quick album for each child, say birth to 18 - with just your favourite photos, keepsakes and stories. It wouldn't take too long. I did a All About Me album- birth to 50 year birthday - fairly quickly. I wanted my kids and grand kids to have some idea of my life. My kids were very happy I did.

Lauren, this is a great series! Thank you for sharing with us. Please tell me what pencils you use? I see two, one for writing on your planner pages & one photo safe soft pencil.

I'll admit at first I wasn't understanding all the forms but after this video it's all starting to click. It seems to me though, that if I'm not careful I may still in up with too many album types and you've yet to cover Library of Memories. :-) But I'm hanging in there till the end. I'm happy that your videos have helped me put together a plan and a vision of what I want my photo collection to be in the end. I have a request: Can you add a blank Theme Scrapbooking form? Thank you! :-)
@CraftSomeJoy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gina, it can be overwhelming! I get it. Do hang in there... because then you can see what will work for you!❤️and I will try to add a blank to the pop downloads😉

I shred or burn physical photos in my TOSS box. I don’t want my pictures in some funny “toilet room” book. You know what I mean? I have a stack of silly quote books and ugly sweater books for bathroom reading. 😂😂

I actually do get that! You can never be too careful!

Good suggestion. It’s nobody’s business what pictures I decide I don’t need.
@Sheree-aka-SherryLynn2 жыл бұрын
@@SuzanneHHaupt I didn’t mention the story of my uncle sending me a complete set of my parents 1950 wedding pictures…they divorced in 1965. He found them at an estate sale of the gentleman who was the best man at their wedding. His children probably had no idea whose the people in those pictures were, but OMGOSH it makes me shudder to think what could have happened to their pictures. Additionally, my brother-in-law works for a thrift store in Florida. He says that families call them to pick up furniture to sell from their deceased loved ones homes. Often there are unwanted photographs and handmade afghans and needlework still in the drawers. That is so sad.

Lots of great ideas. Looking back at my relatives photo albums they included photos of the backs and sliver of faces of people. These photos have no relevance to me because I can’t see the persons face and/or the people are not identified by name. Lots of family history lost. It drives me crazy when I watch scrapping videos and the scrapper doesn’t ID the people in the photos. My late mother didn’t want “artsy fartsy ” pictures, she wanted to see faces, especially on photo Christmas cards. Something else to think about when deciding whether or not to keep or delete photos.

Absolutely Debby! If you know the story that goes with the photos, what a wonderful gift to give future generations!
