Most hospitals have a financial assistance dept that help with the bills. I spent a week in the hospital last year due to having a bad case of Covid, after my insurance I still owed $20k. I applied for the hospital assistance program and ended up paying nothing out of pocket.

That’s so funny you mention being a writer because I was going to initially comment that if you have any sort of talent/craft/hobby that could be a great source of extra income. Like I’m a needle felter.. and I have such a demand that I can’t even keep up with it. But if people like your work, you’ll get a lot of referrals. After a feature in a magazine..I made 12k in one week selling my sculptures. Now of course that was a special one time huge opportunity of exposure.. but it went to paying off a credit card. It was like hitting the art lottery 😂

Prioritize debt payments. You can make different employment choices without debt, it is freeing. Have a small savings and then aggressively attack that debt. Either use the debt snowball or debt avalanche method. You’re a great momma, keep up the good work 🎉🎉🎉

I know it might seem like a hassle but you can contact the hospital and the providers that you owe money to and see if you can get any kind of grants because of your income level and the fact that you're the head of household and that your son is disabled so he doesn't have a way to pay for his own medical bills

Happy to see you posting again! It took a little over 7 months for my son with autism to be approved for SSI. I applied the day after his official diagnosis by a specialist. It's an automatic approval, just gotta jump through all the hoops, and they will pay back pay as well.

My starter went out in my car as well. I have been through one car since I started doordashing but you know, I love the freedom of dashing. I can work within my limits and still have time with family and keep my health within acceptable levels. With my chosen profession I had 2 heart attacks. Keep the stress down lady. Life is too short and it will be shorter if you keep doing things that are too stressful. There are alternatives, you just got to look for them. Good luck

OMG I had to get a new starter as well and I don’t know that it was from DoorDash because I’m very part time mainly due to health reasons from birth nothing contagious or anything. But some days, bone pain or nerve or muscle pain and other days just fatigue. Some days depression. 😂 or anxiety if it’s not bright and sunny out, I can’t see in the dark, although the sun gets in my eyes - you get the drift. And right now I have a loaner 2023 which is gonna be hard to give back when they’re done replacing the motor and doing a couple software updates on my 2013 sonata; I’d even keep the Elantra… if I could keep the newer one. 😂

I think you made the correct decision to step down. Your health is more important than working for people who don’t support you. Spent years working for someone who didn’t appreciate me. After I left that job after 30 years a relief was lifted off my shoulders and my stress level dropped exponentially. Prayers for you and your son. The bills coming from your hospital bills I would negotiate with them. Glad to see you back.

I was a fulltime, KZbinr and Nomad for three years after my mother passed, and I was putting all of my inheritance money into renovating her home because the mortgage company told me I would be able to refinance it in which case I could rent it out. That turned out to be a bald face lie and they knew it. So I’m in the process of cleaning my stuff out of the home and moving back into, my overlanding rig, which I may have to downsize due to debt as I’ve run out of savings in my only income is DoorDash. Sadly, here in Oregon typical DoorDash days of eight or nine hours or $40-$70 tops, and my vehicle only gets 12 miles per gallon around town that best. So I barely pay for fuel costs. The one thing that I might suggest to you if you’re trying to get out of a condo is to look into moving into a small RV camper fifth wheel trailer and putting it at a local RV park. I know a lot of door Dashers, and a lot of nomads that are been able to escape debt this way. If you’re close enough to Public lands, you could easily park a camper, trailer RV, motorhome fifth wheeler on public land for free for a given number of days and then you move to a new site on public land. I’m curious to see in your location. What kind of income you can make off of DoorDash? I’m considering looking at some of the other platforms I only have DoorDash right now.

Our college age son was in the hospital 3 states over for a week. All I can say is try to find a job with better insurance that appreciates someone who works. There are plenty of good companies out there looking for actual workers. Oh and my wife hit a deer in her car and then a deer hit her in the rental while her car was getting repaired. Such is luck

Omg I knew that would not last. We have missed you so much. So sorry about the medical setbacks for you and your son but we must believe and let Jesus take the wheel. The answers will come. Social security needs to do their job it's rediculous that you have those medical bills but do yourself a favor take all the medical bills on your son and get an appointment with social services see if they can get that spundown for you. Just explain that a friend told you about spin downs. They can go 6 months back if they still do this. Tell them social security isn't getting anything done. I love you all. I hope that helps.

If a hospital is Federally Funded they might be able to pay your hospital bill. Ask for an application and while your app is pending you won't be required to pay any of the bills. Worst outcome they then have to offer you a payment plan. I am a State Retired Case Manager for Mental Health and Forensics.

I was thinking about buying cute stickers. And just put them on the bag. Or if the restaurant didnt put a sticker on the drink or something, go ahead and put it on that. Or sticker the straw to the drink. Stivkers that say something like "thanks for the 5 star review." Even though they hadn't rated me, it would plant the seed. Per hour rate turns out to be about 5 bucks an hour cause its just active time. Figure that a minimum you get 2 50 per delivery its not a good deal.
