Very helpful video. It is worth mentioning that if you have to replace the lower left control arm, you have to remove the engine mount too.

Thank you so much for this video. It was my main reference before undertaking the project on my daughters 2006 Malibu LTZ. Just when I thought I watched it enough. I was immediately surprised by the location of the transmission mounts on the six cylinder. Your video was still helpful though because what I wound up doing was just changing the rear bushing. Thats all I needed but decided to do the control arms while I was at it but once I saw the mount on the passenger side particularly I said, screw it and just did the bushings.

@@chopa479 you can do them at different times if you wanted . they are two different parts of the car . keep in mind your car will need a wheel alignment after the tie rods or the control arms so id try to get it all done together so you just pay for an alignment once. I have a 2006 V6 G6 GT. Be aware the Napa driver side which is left control arm 260 - 5873 and the passenger side come with the wrong pinch bolt. It is too big. AutoZone will sell you the control arm but they do not have a pinch bolt! ALWAYS ALWAYS BRING THE OLD PARTS WITH YOU & CHECK YOUR PART'S AND BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE STORE. I was just at O'Reilly and they sold me the control arm for the wrong side. The box was correct however the part inside the unopened bag is not labeled. O'Reilly associates are very helpful but the company itself is setting itself up for failure No wonder people would rather order online.

Id always recommend using a torque wrench torque. A standard click style wrench is pretty affordable. Even buying a wrench you're still saving a pretty penny

In my 07 Malibu maxx I was taking kind of a tight turn. All of the sudden it was as if both tires on the side that was taking the inertia and momentum, suddenly lost almost all air and the car started sliding out abit. As if on Ice or wet pavement but wasn’t at all. The tires did not slide it was as if the body of the car or suspension idk hard to describe but there it is lol ? Would highly appreciate any suggestions thanks ahead of time y’all 🙏✌️🇺🇸

My tire keeps wearing down real close to the rim? Would changing the lower control arm fix that?

Are the bushings or balljoint on the control arm worn out ?
@twosnaps4124
@twosnaps4124 6 жыл бұрын
Im sure they are i was told when getting new rims and tires i needed new lower control arms but i havent looked myself yet i plan on looking today. Everytime i replace a tire it blows out and its always real close to the rim where the slash looking marks are but its all around. Tried getting new rims hoping that'd fix it but its starting to wear those new tires out now too.

Oh ok, then yes a control arm can cause uneven tire wear. Inspect other times as well. Then you'll need a,wheel alignment afterwards. I'll link a video of mine so you can get a better understanding of the situation

Hey bro I hit a curb last night after skidding off the road. In a bad snow storm, my wheel got pushed back 1-2 inches to the fender. Would my lower control arm be bent?

Are you talking about the "round" end or the "box" end? You can use the open end of a wrench that just fits over the circumference of the bolt to push on it as you turn the bolt head. It will eventually come out.
