After setting everything and making sure the colored links were in the correct locations(two dots on cam gears and mark down at crank gear), I turned the engine a couple of rotations and back to lining the timing marks up but the colored links seem to be out of position. The tensioner is in place and everything but the colored links don't line up in the locations I set them up in any longer when I am at top dead center cylinder 1. What gives?
@themechanic611719 сағат бұрын
That's normal. As long as the timing marks line up then it's good. Every time the chain rotates a full revolution the colored links will be off by another tooth. Eventually they'll all align again but it would take many revolutions. As long as the marks (not the colored links ) line up it will be fine.
@cobbysparks989119 сағат бұрын
I just found out that after timing the system to the colored link, links don’t mean anything anymore. As long as the timing marks on the cams sprockets are correct. Apparently after so many turns they will line up again. But that would be 20,30,40 or 70 who knows? I got it right.

You don’t need to run a pcv valve if you’re running a catch can. Catch can will vents crank case pressure to atmosphere. Pcv route the crank case back to the intake to burn in the combustion chamber.

heyyy .. i am so sick of this problem , i did every thing and i still get p03000 multiple random misfire and in cylinder 2 i changed coils multiple times , sparks , injectors , fuel pump i did the coil wirings again .. misfire happens ultimately random and i cant figure the triggers whatsoever !! i dont know what to do its been going on and off for yearss
@themechanic611710 күн бұрын
Changing all those parts was your first problem. It's cheaper to pay someone who knows how to diagnose the problem rather than throwing parts at it. I hope you kept all the original parts because original parts are better quality. Did you check compression? If compression is low then changing all those parts was a waste of money and time. Did you do a smoke test to check for a leaking intake manifold gasket for that one cylinder?
@foxlet79 күн бұрын
@themechanic6117 omg thank you for answering me , and for saying that , i keep telling that to every shop i got , but they just claim to know better ! tha question here is , if there is a leakage in that specific cylinder , that means its mechanical ? and that means it should be a constant misfire .. right? i once wrapped the coil of cylinder 2 wiring with a heat shrink , it drove so well for 8 months !
@foxlet79 күн бұрын
and when the misfire happens , i shut the car off and on for few times , till the misfire is gone , and can drive as a brand new for high mph for god knows how long !

Awesome video. My tuner told me I can either plug the pcv valve shut or leave it open. For a while I left it fully open with a -10 orb venting to the atmosphere and had 2 -10s coming off my valve cover going to a catch can just venting. For the pcv valve you need vacuum. So even if you put the stock pcv valve back in, it wouldn't open up without vacuum. I chose to not plug it back the the manifold so it doesn't suck up the junk from the block back into the mani back into my motor. I'm just vented off the VC.
@themechanic61179 күн бұрын
I plan on installing the catch can how it Normally would be installed. I'll need to connect one end to the intake manifold so that it's pulling that vacuum

You can put the pvc in the value cover vent one hole and put a grommet in the other and use a pop in pvc( positive crank case vent) pulls vacuum through out the engine.older PVC had it in one side and vent on the other
