It was an excellent idea to combine eight well-known (more or less) lists into one, especially when you consider that it is impossible to create an objective list that will please everyone. It's nice that the idea is being continued. I find the mixture of world-famous films and those you've never heard of before particularly interesting. And I like the selection of scenes and the annotations, too. So there's no reason why you shouldn't add a third part at some point, 61 to 90, if it's not too much work.

Thank you! Herein lies the problem - I love doing it and would like to make it up to 100, it they do take around 50 hours to write, record and edit, and there are so many other videos I’m excited to make! Thanks for watching and for the encouragement

Not sure why I consider it a guilty pleasure! Like I said in the video, it is commercially and culturally hugely popular and significant, and yet snubbed from most lists! I think there is definitely an element of film snobbery, and yet it’s an incredibly enjoyable film.

Enjoying your work! This type of list really does make you question how we see cinema differently and it's utility. Some enjoy it for the art, some for the escapism and some for the sheer spectacle and fun factor. One reason or use does not have to trump the other, so I believe all are valid reasons to rate a film.

@jamiemartin6603Ай бұрын
You shouldn’t need to justify putting Titanic in here. It’s an incredible cinematic achievement that still holds up today as it looks amazing and has great heart. Just because it doesn’t have an intricate or complex plot doesn’t take away from how great it is. As someone who wasn’t even born when it came out, I get disappointed when people disregard as just a romance movie or overrated. It won best picture for a reason. Also, like others said, great list but still no LOTR???

Great job. Maybe because like 2001, it goes beyond its genre. Another movie that I only understood and learn to love years later was White Hunter, Black Heart.

Another great list, script, and editing job! But I still don't know how LOTR, massively acclaimed by critics and fans alike, more so than many films on this list, didn't make the list. Something is wrong with the algorithm!
@TheMediaInsiderАй бұрын
Looking back at it, most greatest film lists definitely seem to favour movies that are at least 50 years old, so it’s definitely a bit skewed. Totally agree that Lord of the rings should be on the list from a storytelling, special effects, and feat of logistics point of view. And the soundtrack!

@@TheMediaInsiderthere might be an issue with split voting. While I haven't investigated I know a lot of these lists either put Return of the King on their list to represent the entire trilogy or The Two Towers to represent the best film. My only gripe is that some films only have 3 scores and can average out better than some with more. If I wasn't so lazy I would go through the list and give a 4th score of 100 for those with only 3 and maybe just take the 4 best scores from the others. But at the end of the day it's a list of films I've already heard about and seen over 90% and doesn't change my mind for which ones I like and which I don't but it may help people looking for ideas of films to watch.
@TheMediaInsiderАй бұрын
I’ve pondered over this too: the algorithm I’ve used certainly isn’t perfect, but like you say, hopefully provide a good starting point for must see movies for those relatively new to film. In hindsight, I’ve thought about whether it would’ve been more balanced if those that received a score in the top 20 had an inflated score, so that those with a range of very low scores weren’t able to balance the same.
