The Free Reign Farm Old Fashioned Goat milk is also amazing. Stirling soaps are also very good and worth a try. Razorock soaps are a great value if you don’t care about perfumes, etc. Love their brushes also. Have fun experimenting!

I'll have to try out that scent, thanks! I like to bloom my soap first. The softer soap loads more easily and lathers up quicker, as well as more quickly rich. That soap looks thirsty, too so, I like to dip my brush tips in the water once or twice, etc and work that into the face lather to achieve that whipped cream cushion. Will also have to try out that Canadian: looks great! Thanks for the video!
@averageguytested2 жыл бұрын
How do you bloom your soap?
@michaelbarton51692 жыл бұрын
theMediaMart , I like to put warm water in my soap tin at the same time as I put warm water on my brush (badger). The brush has to drink for a bit anyway, so I just go make a coffee. Maybe 15mins later (likely longer than needed) I come back and everything's ready! Then I just use all the bloom water as my "pre-shave", load the now soft soap top layer into the brush tips, and we're off to the races! I usually start things in a scuttle and finish the lather on the face. One note: if you don't want wet your whole puck, you can scoop some into a bowl / scuttle and bloom it there. I like to do the bloom in the tin as I get more pre-shave water. I simply rinse off the suds well and let the puck dry completely before putting the lid back on. Cheers!

what's up brah!! PAA makes some good soaps, but one thing about PAA soaps is they like water and you didn't add enough to that lather. Watch Ken Surfs videos and you'll see what I mean when I say your lathers look a little Ken Surfs-esque. Too dry and pasty and underhydrated. The goal is a nice hydrated lather that rinses cleanly and easily from the razor. Check out IAMCDB, Michael Freidberg, Sinatra Lennon, or other youtube wet shavers to get a good idea of what hydrated lathers look like. Excellent video though! I'm glad you're getting into more premium soap and razor options. Up next: Get a Karve! Those razors are fantastic and very fairly priced for the quality of the product. Take care!

That lather looks quite dry on first glance. I would strongly suggest dropping your brush into a tub of water or glass and letting it soak before you go for a shower to soften the bristles up and allow for better absorption. This will make it even easier to lather from soaps and creams. I’d also add some water into your soap tub and give it a good shake before using that water to lather from as that water will have the right amount of soap in it needed to make the lather. Dry lather and dry skin is a haven for tugging and irritation no matter what razor or what blade used. Take this from a guy that’s got chronic sensitive skin with annoying dark corse hair.
@averageguytested2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips. The brush is synthetic so it doesn’t need to be wet soaked, but I will take your advice and let the soap bloom with some warm water prior to loading. 🖐🏽
@kwl1892 жыл бұрын
@@averageguytested Right you are. Synthetic brushes retain water really well so don’t have the same requirements. Blooming the soap can be helpful but I mean put some water and close the lid of your soap and give it a good shake until you can’t hear the water slosh around any more. That’s the perfect amount of soap in your water and from that point on you can face lather with that soapy mixture and get a great lather from that.
