I am a veterinarian. This product has been great in allowing me to hear clearer/louder when my patients are sometimes constantly moving and owners are talking. Also able to hear with panting and stertorous breathing with some breeds. Really allows me to focus in and hear the heart well!

Hello, I am too a veterinary imtensivist , do you think, for restless & moving small animals like dogs and cats, it's more suitable and efficacious than the cardiology ones? To hear the heart and lung sounds more subtly, clearly and precisely, will this one be superior than those? I am also thinking for this digital one now.

In our practice the only person who uses it is a nurse with hearing impairment. The head vet discourages the use of it, especially if a vet/ nurse just starting in their carrier . Note: my mother was a paediatrician, she could recognise the most subtle pathology just with standard Littman.

I’m an Army Combat medic and I’ve used this device before a few times. It’s very helpful to have the noise cancelling as I’m often treating patients in loud environments such as moving trucks and tracked vehicles. Also being able to identify and record more difficult sounds (epigastric sounds etc) is great for teaching junior medics what to listen for. Don’t have my own yet but definitely plan on it. Also the video is very well put together thanks for sharing this content.

I am a cardiologist and this stethescope is very good. I have some additional suggesttions for the company about how to improve the stethescope as it pertains to how it works with the app as it is a bit annoying that i have to put in patient identifiers which is not allowed where I live. Sound quality is quite good. if you want to grade a murmur then just turn off sound amplification. the stethescope battery does not last as long as stated in video but i likely forget to turn it off and it probably runs down even if there is an auto off feature. i think the price point is quite good but would not pay more for it. sometimes i find it difficult to make the background noises like movement of the stethescope on the chest wall difficult to get rid of. there should be a digital removal of those sounds. in addition there should be a mode where you say you are listening to the heart and the lungs sounds get removed or visa versa. the other thing is that playback on your phone is not very good so it is not as good as i would want for teachiing.

That's really good to know from a cardiology standpoint. I work in heart failure and some patients with really low EF have such distant sounds combined with a large body habitus makes hearing some heart sounds challenging even with my Littman master cardiology stethoscope, now i think I am going to buy the attachment. I bought the Core piece and put it in my stethoscope. It really makes a difference listening to breath sounds which as an RT is my job. Also, I see a massive use for this in isolation rooms in which you can just bring in the bottom piece in a cover, place ear pods in your ear, and really limit cross contamination from going room to room or if you are wearing a Papr. Recording breath sounds isn't really a big thing to me but there is a market for Eko to create disposable leads with an Eko attachment and then have it so Medical Professionals could listen to a patients breath sounds even if they are not in the room. That would be amazing and really I don't see it being too far off now. Either way, going to buy my wife one.

I am a cardiologist and I definitively use electronic stethoscopes. My workhorse for many years has been the Littman 3200. Unfortunately is not available anymore and my last 3200 began turning itself off. So I decided to give the Core a try. I've only been using it for a week. So far so good. I am so used to electronic stethoscopes so the grading of a murmur is not problem at all for me. I love to be able to listen to S4 gallops, clicks, rumbles and musical murmurs with clarity. My one disappointment is that the EKO app sucks. The graphs generated by the app are not so good. I've been used to record heart sounds for teaching purposes which I could do without any problem from my 3200. Having to take your phone out of my pocket to connect with the stethoscope is ridiculous. The bluetooth should be able to communicate with the phone in one's pocket. Hopefully it will improve.

I have been using this Eko core with Lit Stethoscope chest piece since 2020. It amplifies sound clearly as everyone said. But my problem with the device is the threaded piece that keeps loosing at both ends of the device. I have to lock it back in place before each use and I'm always afraid that I may lose my chest piece one day. It's very annoying. I just ordered the new Eko Core 500. Will see how that goes.

@@jab7413 Yes, I did receive it a few weeks after that post. I have been using it since then. It is far better than Eko CORE. It comes with its own special tube. The tube snug fits into the chest piece (push in and turn clockwise to lock it in place) and never moved since the first day they were attached together. The sound quality is great. It only analyzes A.Fib, Brady, Tachy, and murmur were detected or not. It doesn't differentiate murmurs. You can select any filter you want straight from the chest piece between Cardiac, Pulmonary, or Wide (both). Pairing to a phone could be frustrating sometimes (I'm using a Samsung phone). It requires manual pairing a couple of times before it starts pairing to the phone automatically. It is lightweight and goes to sleep when not in use. Battery lasts about a week with regular use. It's only electronic and won't work if it's not turned on.

This appears to be an amazing option, but I just wanted your opinion/clarity on a couple of things, considering the cost. First, would you as an ER Doctor recommended this particular scope for someone in my situation ?? Secondly. Is the Core Piece made of plastic or more of a metal ?? And lastly. Is there an additional cost for the software/App ?? As learning lung sounds and so on will be important for me moving forward. What are your thoughts ?? I’m so anxious about making the choice as I depend on my 3200 to be my ears every day! I have mild hearing loss and difficulties but the 3200 has made it possible for me to perform pt assessment (lungs, heart, bowels) and still be able to use it to check a BP. @KociolekPL Жыл бұрын
When you turn on the digital amplification it should be way louder. Sound clarity is also better, but the sound is different - more wide in highs and lows. In analogue mode I can say that my MDF ProCardial C3 is noticeably louder. It is also better than my old digital Littmann 3200 in one very important matter - the membrane in CORE is built the same as in the normal stethoscope and that is why in CORE there are no (nearly any) artifacts that comes from amplificaltion of moving of the membrane on the chest wall. In 3200 that was a serious flaw for me when auscultating lungs.

I think it's pretty incredible, but I am a humble M2, for what that's worth. And you have to keep in mind that you just flip the button over and you've got yourself a regular cardiology IV, right? My college roommate sent me the CORE when I started M1, I think he got it for free in a promotion. I have to say, the clarity and amplification of the sound is almost TOO good, you end up feeling like you're missing out on the challenge when you're learning stuff. But then in the preceptor's clinic when I feel like I want to just get the best objective readings, sure enough, I always flip the switch back on. I showed it to a professor of cardiology, he poo pooed a little bit, or rather said that he preferred the nuance of the unamplified, un-cleaned up sound. Again, you can just flip it off if you want. I suppose if you're a cardiologist or just want really consistent results in clinic, you should always use the same one. I see other comments talking about how useful it is in a trauma bay, though, that is hard to argue with.

Are the ear buds on this model designed the same as other Littman buds? I only wonder because I’m due to start training as a paramedic and I wear hearing aids. This sounds like it would really help me by amplifying softer sounds that I may struggle to hear otherwise. I may not get a complete seal due to the thin tube extending from my hearing aid but I’d like to think that I’d still benefit from the amplified sound. As an emergency responder it won’t be ideal or sanitary to keep taking my hearing aids out 😂

I bought one, and I remember CNAs, LVNs, LPNs, MAs in my class. One CNA had 16 yrs of experience and a LVN had 27 years of experience. They told me it was unnecessary. A waste of money. It has helped me a lot thru our rotations. I plan on continuing my education as a CRNA and I do see a need for it. It's helpful in loud areas. If you plan on doing SNFs work after, I have been told nurses their don't need it cause they almost never brother to use them. Med-surg, usually not too crazy. Might not need it most of the time. ED, yeah you do need it. ICU, get it. Just because someone has worked in healthcare for 16- 30 years as a LVN or CNA in a hospital, doesn't mean they know jack about what hospital nurses needs. I am hard of hearing as well. It's night and day of a difference. Just don't lose it.

if you are youngish with excellent youthful hearing, this is not necessary but if you like tech and such, you'll probably enjoy it.

The problem for me is how bulky the digital core is. If they found a way to make it more subtle, I'd use it, but as it stands it's too bulky.

Would you recommend this or the eco core 500?

Any Medics use it and can tell me what they think?

for the ED, a $5 disposable stethoscope would be just fine.

this is the medical equivalent of the "student driver, please be patient" bumper sticker. students of various kinds can benefit from amplification outside the ears, but the device adds no benefit between the ears
