I must say, you and Nolan are two brave parents taking your children to faraway places. I know that is something I never would have attempted to do with my children. As for the leash, I am all in favor of using one. I lost my child once, it was the longest, scariest, twenty five minutes of my life until she was found safe and sound. During your tour of the submarine, I started feeling a little claustrophobic watching you navigate through those tight spaces. God bless our servicemen for their service and all that they go through. Aside from all of that, Hawaii looks like a beautiful place. The sky and the waters so blue. What an opportunity for you. Blessings, K.

Yes, we are not careful which places we choose to go to. When Nolan and I traveled alone, we've stayed in some pretty, uh, sketchy areas. Probably not the wisest. But we are more careful now. Losing your child for 25 minutes? Wow that was scary! I can't imagine, it's one of my greatest fears. Especially in places where it would be hard to find them. So glad all turned out OK.

I've said it before, but... definitely one of the best storytellers/videographers/editors on YT. Lexi is a scream. 😯 On December 7, 1941, my Dad was two days away from his 18th birthday. Because of the attack on Pearl Harbor, he signed up and within a few months, he was a Marine on his way to the Pacific theater. That day in 1941 changed the world. It reminds me that there was another day that changed the world even more, the day that Christ rose from among the dead. All of history is headed to one grand ending, written before the foundation of the world.

My mother's brother signed up with the Marines at the same time and served in the Pacific. He was born in the Philippines 20 years before when my grandfather was there working for the Navy. I'm so glad that they both came home, I just wish all of our young men would have come home. He would never talk about his experiences. They were some very hard times for them and everyone who loved them. Lest we never forget.

I love it, Janine - Xander is the perfect travel bud and Lexie is SO Adventurous - don't justify the reins - we called them reins in England - my Mum used them on her tribe when they were little and they were less than a meter long, so they didn't have free rein like Lexie has! But, yes, you never had to worry about them, they weren't going to wander off or end up under a bus, get lost or be taken - and the alternative is hanging on to their hand, which just isn't always practical, is pretty uncomfortable and I've always thought the kids have more freedom this way. Now, I may question it Xander was on the end of the swivel - and to be honest, Lexie is generally much better off running around, building up her strength and ability than being stuck in a stroller for hours on end until she is nearly 5-years of age, which I see too often, & despair for the poor child's emotional & physical development. Haven't got to your visit to Pearl Harbor yet... Looks like a splendid trip and your kids are such a credit to you & Nolan - so special! Thank you!

Thank you for that. I like that: reins. That's truly what it is. Like you said, the child is so much happier and gives them exercise and a feeling of freedom without the dangers. I just try to ignore any strange looks. Thanks for being here and taking the time to comment

@@theMennoniteMom I'm a long way from home and I'm missing seeing my great grand nieces & nephews grow up & being able to help them out! So, I really do enjoy watching your little ones grow & develop - Xander is such a great little boy and I hope your two are an inspiration to many people struggling with parenting. It can't be easy in this TickTok generation. I was a farm kid and once our chores were done the world was our oyster. Being the eldest I had to come up with fun things to do & places to explore and I managed it & no one ever ended up in the ER! I feel very sad for kids not having the freedom Lexie & Xander know - because I have known fearful parents stop their kids, from well, being kids - even though they had the most exciting adventurous opportunities on their doorstep - and it's hampered their adult lives - so timorous, dependent and entitled, such a shame, I'm sure for a bit of free rein, their lives would have turned out differently,.. Anyway, it looked like you enjoyed a fabulous holiday and I bet the coffee was amazing - always liked Kona when I could get it! I'm a great believer in giving kids a long rein, I guess that's how we build trust? You just smile your secret smile when folk give you the Look and know your kids are full of life, curiosity, good health and vitality destined for amazing things!! (Check back in 10-years??) Have a great day - it's blowing its socks off down here again - winter just doesn't want to quit!! G

My daughter, granddaughter, and I were coming home from a trip. My granddaughter (about Lexie's age) was excited and running all over the airport having a great time. When we went to board and were cutting through first class to get to economy where our seats were, she promptly threw up right in the aisle. The stewardesses were acting very gracious, but their eyes were saying something else. I feel bad for them that she got sick in such an inconvenient place. My granddaughter never acted sick before or after the incident. I think it was just all the excitement.

No judgement, as parents we have the right to do what is best for our child. I had a leash for my now 42 year old son after he ran away onto the road & I had to chase him, I was 8 months pregnant at the time.

I was more upset when Lacey didn’t have a leash 😂. I was like, where is the leash? She is too fast 😂😂😂. Thank you so sharing your wonderful trip, Blessings 🙏🌺🌼🌸

🍍Hello! Hawaii, what a treat! You guys have perfected the art of travel. Light packing, Yummy healthy food at the airport. The best off the beaten path places to enjoy ... Nolan got to experience the Pearl Harbor Museum.👍 The new and extraordinarily long stick on your camera offered the best views. At times, warped yet fun. 😮😅 In 1986 , years before my husband and I met, he was stationed at Schofield barracks, Hi. Late winter '86, he did 3 weeks in Japan, training with the Japanese ground self-defense force. In any event, we enjoy watching you on our Big Screen TV. It's better than most tv shows. ❤

Hey thank you, 😀 we've learned that packing light is the only way but can be hard to do with children. Yes the camera was a gift from Nolan. I'd been eyeing it up and he surprised me with it. It really adds fun to the videos. Especially the next video 😀 for some great footage. So interesting your husband was stationed there and trained in Japan. I'm sure he has some interesting stories. Thank you for being here and taking the time to comment!

I'm so glad you have her on the lease and wish it was on her out by the waves. They can actually rip adults off their feet and suck them out into ocean. I was a lifeguard and I struggled standing at edge of tide in stormy oceans...which can happen quickly. At least you stayed way back and stayed safe.
