I started watching your videos about a month ago and I have to say it has encouraged me (and taught me) to give myself pedicures (the right and best way) instead of going to a salon that hurries me through and doesn't ever remove the building under around and the nail. I would only go get a pedicure about 4x a year (I maintain at home in-between) but after the last appt where I paid $80 for a basic mani-pedi that left me with still rough soles, peeling cuticles and build up still under my nails I decided enough is enough. I'll do it myself! So THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and skills with us! I so so appreciate it!

Well, the body knows what to do as much as its able-- it's all about healing and self-protection. And in a case like this nail, where it wasn't possible for the body to slough off the excess nail, it built up a wall of calloused skin as a pad, to keep the sharp nail edge for digging in any deeper and perhaps causing a big infection. To me, that makes Mother Nature pretty darned savvy. Just my take on it, of course.

I'm so happy to have found your channel and you! Two years ago, my big toes were swollen and it was very painful. I cleaned and cleared it of dead skin. I had no idea it was can impacted nail. My toes got better but I didn't realized I had to keep manually remove the cuticles and skin underneath so this last winter my toes started hurting again and my nails got thick again. I was really scared to go in and cleaned out the skin again because I wasn't sure it was the right thing to do. Or how deep to cleaned and remove.
